The 2005 NY Downstate Sunfish Regional was ran this weekend, Sept. 24-25 on the waters of the Great South Bay in Sayville, NY. The regatta was hosted by Wet Pants Sailing Association. On the line were 40 boats in a very competetive fleet with three different World Champions, three North American Champions and several regional winners. Sailors from Virginia, New Jersey, Connectitcut, Rochester and Massachusettes traveled to sail in the challenging 12-20 mph winds and steep chop.
