Below is the announcement for the 2003 St Francis Yacht Club Laser
Symposium. You can read the details below, all I can add is that if you
are a young person who wants to improve your Laser sailing skills then
you don't want to miss this event!
(just to set the age scale... sadly, it appears that I no longer qualify
as a "young person")



2003 Laser Symposium
St Francis Yacht Club

Enrollment is now open to Laser Radials and Lasers, and the clinic will
be held on the San Francisco City Front in order to utilize various
resources including challenging conditions, nightly guest speakers and
fitness testing facilities.

Do not miss this opportunity to have the learning experience of your
sailing career! Sailors from more than 55 different yacht clubs have
participated in the past from places as far away as Canada, Mexico, and
Australia. The competition and coaching will be excellent.

As well as intense on-the-water training with top level coaches, Brett
Davis & Andrew Lewis, the St. Francis Symposium will include:

* Boatspeed & Tactics in heavy breeze and currents
* Understanding sail shape
* Mental preparation for National and International events
* Handling protests successfully
* Maximizing your training sessions at home
* Financing your sailing campaign
* Video analysis of on-the-water practice
* Fitness testing & Creation of a Personalized Fitness Plan based on
test results
* Nutrition for sailing and effective weight gain/loss strategies
* Personalized detailed training plan for reaching your Annual Goals

WHERE: Saint Francis Yacht Club on the Marina, San Francisco, CA 94123
WHEN: July 15 to July 18, 2003
HOUSING: Provided by local families
BOATS: ten Laser Radials, ten Lasers will be accepted

(We can assist you with chartering a boat if needed)

FEES: US $450 per sailor ($365 for StFYC members) includes
accommodation, meals, physical testing and coaching

HOW TO APPLY: Send your sailing resume along with one recommendation
letter from someone who has coached you in the past 12 months to the
2003 Symposium Committee to St. Francis Yacht Club, or via fax or email
([email protected]). We invite you to contact us if you have questions
or concerns about your application. All applications will be considered
for participation on a first-received, first-considered basis until all
20 spaces are filled, with some preference given to those traveling from
out side the area.
