1967 Keel Plate question

Hi All,
New member, here. Using the barter system, I traded a canoe for a 1967 Sunfish that has been neglected for the past 22 years. Our elbow grease and some sage assistance from you will get us on the water.

The bronze keel plate has a screw hole that aligns with a hole on the bottom--do I put a screw in there? I'm asking because there is no evidence of ever having one installed. Couldn't find a detailed pic on the internet.

Thanks in advance,

Pfennig

Yes, you will need a large, flat head wood screw. Add a little epoxy putty in the hole so it will hold the keep plate securely.
