Does anyone have pictures of a 1960's rudder assembly? There is a small hole in which a small screw goes into next to the deck plate that seems to use to have a connection on the screw that looks like it had a ball chain connected to it. Don't know what it was for or what the ball chain use to connect to. Any help is appreciated.

This may be stating the obvious, but when the rudder isn't on the boat, be sure the pin is back in the gudgeon..... Not just hanging from the chain.

A related question.....Is there anything else besides the pin that connects the gudgeon to the rudder? Or, is this all that connects the two?

The bottom end is seated into the bronze fitting attached to the underside of the hull.
