What kind of paddle for Sunfish ?

I use a little plastic paddle that looks like a kids toy. It works fine. Try any store that sells cheap inflatable boats. You can also use a bailer made from a plastic jug in a pinch.

    Age of Intensity Sunfish Sail

My Intensity Sail came with logo maybe three years ago, although their web site said it wouldn't.

So what is the advantage of such a compass, compared to an old school magnetic one?

    58 Mile Trip

The Coast Guard has the power to terminate a "manifestly unsafe voyage". In my four years service with them I never heard of this power being used. They do not require any kind of prior approval for private voyages. The proposed trip described would not even catch their attention.

    First Post

I have anodized black spars. Don't know the boats history, though. They get hot in the sun sometimes.

New to sailing, new to Sunfish, new to the area. Anyone else in Seattle or Washington state?

I'm in Spokane. There are a a few 'fish on the area lakes. The Vancouver WA sailing club had a Sunfish event this year, as well. If you get a regatta going I might make a road trip.

New forum member--what went wrong today?

It helps to sit well forward. Shifty winds make it harder.

    Best life jackets?

Modifying a PFD voids it's certification. Don't do that.

    Tiller quick release.

Yes, but its rather awkward having the tillers stick off in a different direction from the blade.

    Tiller quick release.

I'd like a simple quick release for my tiller, for easy stowage off the boat? What do people use?

    Trailering advice needed

My son and I built a double rack on a utility trailer in an afternoon. Used wood for structure and custom bunks. Cheap and easy, and it works.

    6 mph wind

Sit well forward and very still, watch the trim of your sail constantly, heal a bit to cut through wakes (avoids being pounded to a halt), jibe around rather than come about ( keeps momentum up).

    Boat Launch / storage

I keep my Sunfish on a similar dock. It is easy enough to just pull it up onto dock. Nothing abrasive to do any real damage. Goose poop provides lubrication:rolleyes:.

    Block & Bridle

I misunderstood what block the OP might be refering to. Thanks for jumping in with the pictures, Danpal.

    Block & Bridle

The current, 2 loop bridle has a loop at each end for attachment. Ths allows the bridle to slide across the boat depending on what tack you are on. Previous, 3 loop bridles had an additional loop in the biddle to fasten the sheet to in a fixed position.. No one loop bridles that I know of. A...

    Block & Bridle

I have the two loop bridle. I use no block, instead tying the sheet end around the bridle with a small bowline. Nice and simple.
