ISCA & USSCA website(s) marked as malware sites

Hi, the Class website(s) were attacked by malware a few weeks ago. Because our web infrastructure is cobbled together and extremely sub-standard, the evil doers were able to take advantage of a few weak passwords for admins in a few regions/countries and infecct every corner of the...

    Report from the NAs

I'll second Chris' note on what a great job Lake Bluff did hosting this regatta. I'll also second Wavedancer's comment about not having general recalls. There were something like 12 starts held on day 1 with zero general recalls (a fact the RC emphasized on shore after racing). He put up the...

    Numbers don't Gybe

Yes, the sail number was likely issued by ISCA. New Sunfish do not come with a sail number.

Newport Regatta in a Sunfish this Weekend

Hi everyone, The Sail Newport Regatta - July 13-14 this year -- is one of the signiture one-design regattas on the East Coast. For the past several years a small group of us has raced Sunfish and had a blast. This is a great event for a weekend away, as there is always a big seabreeze and the...

    Regatta Schedule

I would recommend that a Facegroup "Event" be created for the NAs. We did that last year and it was helpful in guesstimating the turnout.

    Heavy Sunfish

Heavy only matters if you are racing it and if you are carrying it! New boats weigh in the 122-130 lb range. They get heavy due to water leaking in and being absorbed by the foam.

    Regatta Schedule

I don't see why we are even printing these schedules anymore. The online version is more accurate and can be updated if things change.

    Rudder Gudgeon Breaks in Race

I have made this kind of repair in the past. It is easy (once the port is in). I agree that this is outrageous.

    Harken vs. Ronstan

Regarding the Ronstan getting stuck. Try hosing it down. Mine tends to lock up too but squeezing a sponge over it works it loose

    Heavy wind landing

I do it with some frequency when I'm frostbiting (sailing backwards in or out of a tight space to avoid jumping in the icy water up to my waist.). It does take practice, but it can be done!

    Heavy wind landing

Practice sailing backwards when the wind isn't as heavy!

Sunfish Worlds program does not seem fair

The idea is to have the best Sunfish Sailors in the World compete against each other. If you want a big, open championship you should go to the NAs in Chicago or to your regional championships in the SE. It would be silly if the "Worlds" was nothing but the people who lived closest to the venue
