This board came with a boat I bought. The person said they left it under their boat cover. You can see two pretty big spots and there is a smaller one. They are rigid. The board does not go down in the slot. I have spares. My thought is sand it down and rebuild. What would be the best fill...

Not pretty but fiberglass is easy to repair. Watch a view videos. Make sure you grind back to good glass, clean as acetone and use epoxy. The shape is pretty easy to bring back. The aluminum trim will take a bit to find.

You got a nice buy. For safety, I would invest in a correct rudder and hardware as well as a coaming. Wave are going to roll over and fill up the cockpit. There are some significant loads on a rudder in windy conditions. Putting the right parts on will make the boat more reliable, fun and safe.

Spider cracks are stress cracks usually created when putting a lot of pressure on the softer parts of the deck. The deck over the back corners of the cockpit compartment is where my 76 boat got stress cracks. Often those compartment did touch the underside of the deck completely.

Light and Variable is correct. Older goosenecks that used the screw to tighten, often used up all of the clamping force. New ones have a bigger gap since we use quick releases. You can file or grind off some bronze material between the edges to make it fit, just have to be careful not to do...

Is the boat sitting on the ground? You should be able to reach under and insert it back in the hole and reattach the top.

Just blow into the hull then tape over the plug hole. Use soap bubble mix over the mast it will confirm if the mast is the problem. Tape the bottom of the centerboard trunk then use the soap mix over the centerboard top. Check the boat edge seams and around the bailer.

Have you done a leak test? Easy way to locate the leak.

Alan is correct, I have done the same with older goosenecks. You should not end up with any spacers.

Pictures would be good to see. Where do you have the spacers? How tight to you have the adjuster?

I have always tested a mast tube by doing the soap bubble test. The soap film will cover that mast tube and if there is a leak, it will blow a bubble. I don't like putting water where it could enter the hull.
