Need Advice - Mast Step Failed

Thanks for the response. Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking. I really have no desire to put the time, effort & money into fixing it. I might just post it for $300 as is and see if I get any interest. I might sell the cover and blade bag separate, or include them in the deal if I could get $400.

Need Advice - Mast Step Failed

Or (I just thought of this) do I donate the boat to my club and get a tax credit?

Need Advice - Mast Step Failed

Hello all. So my mast step on my 1978 hull failed last week. I was trying to sell this boat anyway. I am glad it happened to me and not a new owner. So now I don't know what to do... Do I sell it cheap to someone that wants to put the time, effort & money into fixing it up? Do I strip off the...

    Installing an autobailer

I wasn't able to find the anchor by itself that I could buy. Would a drywall insert type anchor from a hardware store work? I bought some at the hardware store. However, they are too long to work with a 1" screw (that was suggested earlier in this thread). So, I need some advice. Do I just use...

    Installing an autobailer

So, my 1978 hull has never had an autobailer. I bought one from a guy who wrecked his hull and salvaged some parts. It came without the screw to attach it to the hull. Does anyone know what size screw I should use? I have also heard that there should be an anchor? Is this correct? Or can you...

    Laser Deck Covers

I use SLO sails. You can google them. Best bang for the buck that I could find. I bought one last year, then got another one this year or my girlfriend's boat

Rolled sail vs. Non rolled sail ... What is the difference?

Really? Hadn't realized we were talking about Laser sails on the Laser forum... Are you implying that a Laser sail is somehow better suited to be mistreated than other types of sails? If you are looking for a scientific breakdown of what happens to the cloth, I cannot provide that. But trust...

Rolled sail vs. Non rolled sail ... What is the difference?

Folding a rolled sail in half is horrible for it! If you need to fit your sail in your trunk, it is better to just flake it and brick it.

    Rudder Questions

Is it legal to get rid of the rudder downhaul line (and cleat on the tiller)? Is it possible (and legal) to tighten the nut down enough on the rudder so that it will not pivot? Thanks in advance!

    Flotation Bags?

Thanks for the info. I didn't know they were required. I have another older Laser (this one is for my girlfriend) that I sail that has no inspection ports. Are you saying that the same plastic flotation cubes are inside the hull and I just don't know because I can't see inside? How many of...

    Flotation Bags?

I recently purchased an older Laser. It has several inspection ports, which I opened the other day and found several plastic flotation blocks inside the hull. Is this normal or common? What purpose do they serve? Do they add buoyancy if they are inside of a watertight hull? Won't they move...
