dont buy it not only will you have fix the boat after buying it, it has probly been sailed like that and once you get the wood core in older lasers soaked it creates a lot of extra weight and normally never dries out bad buy look around for something in better shape theres lots of lasers around
go over the deck and make sure there are no soft spots if the boat leaks a lot it will make the wood in the deck get wet, soggy, rotten and weak creating soft spots if this has happened the boat is junk...... theres lots of things you can do to revive the a dull hull. like someone before said...
i remember a couple years ago sailing to the course somewhere in the atlantic, in nova scotia.. all of a sudden i see a huge spray come out from the water about 7-10 feet away from my bow the next thing i know a huge right wale came up just feet beside me almost capsizing my boat and soaked me...
how bad is the damage..... fiberglass isnt that hard to work with sometimes the biggest issue is not making a mess lol.... the most common place to get damage around the center board trunk is right were the deck and the hull join at top on the leading edge side(or even the trailing edge side)...
completly insert your tiller into the rudder head, then carefully drill a hole into the tiller, take a small pin and attach it to a piece of string. your tiller will never come out..... find a small detailing polisher/buffer(not a grinder or anything with a lot of power!!!!!!) and buff the hull...
take a 1/2 inch drill bit and drill a hole in the middle of the cap this way if water ever gets back in there it'll just drain back out....
mind you i havent been in the laser seen i a few years im not sure if this even class legal.. cant see why not tho
the most we fit on one laser was 25... this boat LEAKED a lot and there was no part of the deck showing im surprised it still sailed(sorta) and we got as far as we did lol
no pic but i thought id share
