naming your laser? never thought about that, but i guess you can, competitive laser sailing is wierd. You have to take care of your boat but you also need to push it to the limit. Like cranking on so much vang even though you know your top might break. Also instead of trying to name it you...
i agree with everything but the vang tension. In very light- light winds you should have your vang so tight that when you release your mainsheet it goes out from the back block at a 45degree angle. As the wind increases you should ease the vang, if you start getting overpowered thats when you...
You guys are wrong. It seems his sail is right. Do you have even the slightest heel on your boat. Even a tiny bit of heel will slow the water over the blades causing the boat not to "lift" and slide leeward. You should closely watch your heel to make sure the boat is flat. And YES it does really...
Are you going to be sailing with Mon Don in Connecticut? Because that weekend may 4th i am holding a clinic with Ryan Minth, he is the Chinese Olympic team coach and he coached his student to 2nd in the worlds. Hes really good. You and anyone else on this forum is welcome to come. It will be...
i know both i sail out of Toms River Yacht Club and i do the hs races around there. What bout u? My name is Dylan. By the way Max is @#%&*^. I dont know Amy that well but she seems nice. GO FOR THE LASER.
European Top sections are made better than american... Its no myth. The Euros are slightly stiffer so it opens up more sail in Heavy winds so its great for heavier ppl. Its also good in light wind for the same reason. I have no idea about the aussie one i dont own one of those
im not the best at downwind but you want to heel to windward and turn and ease. or you can wait for a wave to catch and use less heel and more rudder and catch the wave to speed back up. Good luck
Is it me or did everyone at the worlds use a new type of yellow blades that are lighter and have no metal inside them. That is just what ive heard but i want to get a pair of those anyone know where you can get some?
Yeah i know i can't wait. My names Dylan Finneran and my sail #s 179458. Your lucky you live in Florida, you can sail all year round. I live in NJ. Are you going to be training the day before the regatta? How are the conditions, ive never sailed there. See you there.
Hey everyone I'm getting ready to sail in Midwinters East and was wondering what you guys do to get your blades and hull in shape. Usually i just wash it but i think its time for a wetsand. Any suggestions?
How sweet would it be if you put some skis on the bottom of your laser and go skiing down a huge mountain. just had the thought but i doubt its possible especially where im going Alta, Utah with 2 ft of powder its gonna be sick.
Happy Holidays and Sail fast
Hello all
are there any District 10 sailors that are going to Midwinters East Clearwater Florida? If you even think you are please call 973-252-1743 we're looking for a way to get down there
Sail Fast
it pretty much means use no cunningham in light wind and the wrinkles are usually seen midsail that go all the way back to the leech. it will make your sail fuller which will make you go faster.
I suggest a Kitty Hawk but along with that purchase you might want to get a Fitness Made Simple Video tape and a set of barbels. This is a laser and you will have to be in shape. It also depends where you are launching the boat from. Beach, Ramp, etc.
you should definetly go for speed because you will gain more when you go on speed then you ever would going on height. However there are always exceptions like when you are trying to point to the windward mark or trying to get clean air but those are pretty much the only exceptions.
Everyone who posted before me is right and thats an aggressive move by BOAT2 but you can usually pull it off if the first person doesnt know how to round a mark.
