Question  Anyone have a digital file of the Sunfish logo?

I’m hoping to put a bunch of Sunfish in different colors on my sail. Thanks!!

Drop nose pin might work. I’m not super crazy about how secure they are and you do need to make sure it is somehow fastened to the rigging or it can go swimming like a split ring. Probably wrong application for a soft shackle so you can ignore that suggestion. A snap shackle is like this...

    Question Wooden Sunfish?

I have raced 505s for a long time and the class occasionally has had a sort of exhibition “classics” side regatta at big events if memory serves.

If you are not sailing class events what about a snap shackle or soft shackle?

Why the ISCA logo on the sails and not the Sunfish logo? The ISCA logo is pretty boring.

Question What is the fastest a Sunfish can go?

Nice! Thanks. Now I have a goal. Since I can’t post a vid, I clipped a picture of Small Axe when my buddy had her lit up. It was about a 20+ kt gust, with pretty smooth water (we are in a small bay) and he was generally beam reaching.

Question  What is the fastest a Sunfish can go?

According to my GPS app I hit 11 knots, but it was 1-2’ waves and I was basically running or deep broad reach. I took some green waves over the bow and damn near pitch poled! But later, in more protected water my buddy was beam reaching and looked to go maybe 13-14 knots? I shot some video...

Question Sailing New London CT: will it kill me?

Can’t speak for New London, but if you do sail to close to military areas you aren’t supposed to here in the PNW, you will be accosted, in a not very friendly way. These guys and gals take their orders seriously, no matter what you look like.

Question Sailing New London CT: will it kill me?

Yeah, I sail on Port Townsend Bay which is bordered by Naval Magazine Indian Island. It’s where a lot of ordnance is stored for various naval campaigns. If you sail too close you may find yourself on the wrong end of a 50 caliber. We just use common sense and give it a good offing.

Question Any ideas on how to remove this corroded bailer?

I have not tried to remove it yet. I’m just sailing this time of year.

    Snapped vintage spar wooden

Here is a company that has a 12’ 2” diameter mahogany dowel for $77. It might be the same or more to ship. It’s also the wrong diameter and too short. You might call them because they will know the most about this. In the meantime I will, when I get a chance, ask a sawyer I know who cuts...

Will try to help later but check online for a dowel manufacturer. A mahogany type would or Douglas Fir would be good choices.

Poplar is easier to come by but not used as a marine lumber. But if you can get that easily and can find a straight piece, as long as it is sealed up with varnish and you keep an eye on it, it COULD work. It does often have a green hue to it and is mostly considered a paint grade wood.
