Thats the same card used in the Carbon Parts compass so my review follows for this one as well. It does take a little sharper eyes than the larger compasses would require. Still, I was surprised on how readable it was. 5 degree shifts are harder to notice but generally the simplicity of the...
Great poem! I wish you the best in your campaign. The Laser may be a 'simple' boat but it takes many many years to master.
I'll message you directly with some tips for sailing in waves.
I know you all probably like Laser sailing so I thought I'd share the short video I made for my Make A Champ funding page. It includes some coach boat and go pro footage from a recent training camp in Sydney, Australia. There is one soon to be 2016 Olympian and three other hopefuls (including...
I've only sailed about 5 minutes with the new sail in Sydney, but heard a lot of feedback from others at Sail Sydney on the breezy day indicating there was a lot of helm and a lot of power in the rig. As I mentioned earlier in the thread it would be interesting to see if softer spars would help...
I had the nexus 103 which read 1-20 prior to the carbon parts compass and I would never go back. Even though the numbers are smaller on the carbon parts compass, I still find the colour cards help me get my positon nicely on the compass even in windy and wavy conditions. It is slightly slower to...
Yes Alan but people do source the best mast combinations and one is forced to at least match at the HIGHEST level of sailing, not an issue for your club or national level sailing.
My main point is I'd like to try the MKII sail with the 'softer' north american/euro sections and/or the incoming...
I didn't use the new sail at Sail Sydney but I used it on one training day and heard plenty from sailors who used it. I had some personal thoughts but mostly we agreed on the strength and weaknesses of the sail.
In 6-12 knots I didn't try the sail, but others seemed to have great height. It...
I like my powerpads, the versatility of the 3 suits are great for someone who sails in all temperatures. Also the pads are very sturdy to hike on. Go for the smallest sizes you can squeeze into to help keep the pads in place.
Thanks all for your responses, LP has decided to replace my hull. They have been very helpful thus far in assisting me.
CaptainAhab - I know some sailors who put their new lasers in a 'furnace' (maybe a shipping container on a very hot day) in order to cure the resin quickly. Do you recommend...
I got a problem with my 2014 Laser involving visible deformations in the hull. It seems to have gotten worse or more visible months after purchasing it. I am not entirely sure creation of these deformities has stopped either.
I noticed I had some bumps and ridges along my hull in the aft...
No change in rules with the new builder-supplied metal cleats? If it's not a problem now then it must not have been in the past.
All I am saying is Jean Luc either thinks it is not against the rules, or just does not care - he has personally checked over my equipment multiple times with no...
Rakes of new boats are from 282 - 283. They are pretty consistent in that range from what I have measured. I have both the older (GRP?) and the newer (all-white) blades and I do notice a different sheen on the newer ones. Haven't heard of anyone sanding them or prepping them yet.
Everyone brought their own boats. They only measured the first half of boats, and yes, probably only for their stats. They will now know if Aussie boats are lighter than UK ones (they are). All boats, even the super-light ones, were allowed to race because as long as they have a builder sticker...
in conditions with enough waves to cause water to enter the boat upwind/downwind and enough wind for water to flow out of your boat through the autobailer, and in winds where it is dangerous or slow to reach for your autobailer stopper (name?). ok, lets just say 15 knots+ and get to the point...
its a cheap whale imitation..
i'll try switching centreboards and see if the problem persists
im not sure what the previous owner placed, but i did find out it was a charter boat from 2006 radial worlds in california
my blades are brand new but i'll check them. I know how boats hum at really crazy speeds but i'm talking about just cruising not so fast... I havent left my blades in the sun at all but ill check it for sure
Whenever I go downwind/reach in any reasonable wind (10+) my boat makes a considerable noise from humming or vibrating. I've never had a boat that does this almost all the time. It's a newish boat bought from the world champs. Is this normal? Is something out of line? AM I CRAZY?
