    this sucks

At least we Americans dont have to worry about getting eaten by a great white shark, and speaking with a funny accent. We're the koolest country in the world because the three most powerful people in world are Bush, Dick and Colon.

    Top Speed?

I was clocked at 19knots by the local Wildlife Commission, he pulled up beside me at a full plane and asked if I needed assistance, I smiled and asked how fast I was going, he said 19 knots. :D

    Downwind Board Position

After the clinic this summer, Ben Richards recommended keeping the board most of the way down, off the wind. I now sail at max with the board up 12" usually less. I think the boat tracks better, and makes use of whatever puffs come through to make the boat go in the direction you point it...

    Class Politics new laser sail

Mr. Bush, I mean Mr. Kirkpatrick, Benson meant that the cloth is not what is to be considered "racing sail quality material" Just give us the #s so we all that are so anal and who bought North sails can sleep at night knowing our sails are of the same quality as the competitor. Give the #s...

    Class Politics new laser sail

Yeah the archives are a small piece of the puzzle. According to Benson, they use inferior cloth, However I would still like to see the #s between the two companies. I would be curious to see the cloth orientation as well. Anyway it appears Mr. Kirkpatrick is not going to reply, so no use in...

    Class Politics new laser sail

I don't care if Dave's data is bias or not, I just want to see it. I bet both companies have plenty of hiccups in their processes and would not be proud of their #s. Sort of like when you worked at a resturant, you want people to eat there but you your self don't because you know what goes on...

    Class Politics new laser sail

Mr. Kirkpatrick, Would you be so kind to tracking down some actual data on sail cloth QC/measurement checks between Contender and North (along with the dates of the checks) and lets see who runs a tighter ship/weave/thread count/resin content, etc etc and post the specs and their tolerances...

Class Politics RANT - leading edge of daggerboard trunk

Using epoxy to build the trunk back to original shape sounds good to me and seems like it would meet the intent of the rule you quoted.

    sailing heros

Ed Baird, cause he crushed me and a buddy when I was 14, back in 84' on Lake Norman. He was tacking upwind in 20 knots like a mad man. Of course I was clueless. Gary Jobson because he is personable and a great sailor, Dennis Baby! Gotta pull for the man!

Not Sure If a Laser is for Me

Yeah, if you think the 420 is fast, get a laser, and go the solo route. G.W.

    McLube vs. Teflon

Can't say that I have heard of One Australia, wasn't that a failed AC attempt or were they the ones who won it back in the 80's? Anyway yes I do have different versions based on how much I want to spend. For instance, if you transfer your mclube to a clear cylinder and evaporate off the...

    Carbon Spars

My guess is if the carbon spar is more bendy then less people will use it as it will bleed off power before you need it to. If the spar is more stiff then we will put more loads on other areas of the boat that normally did not see the leach tension created by a stiffer spar, thus breaking other...
