Ok, let me rephrase my question. How do I put in a block on my top deck (1985) without having to cut access ports? How did this guy with a 1980 do it? What there already something there from the factory that went away on the 1985's?

Sent this to my wife yesterday saying the wood is varnished, hull is polished and she’s ready for rigging then sea trials!

I purchased a mast bottom cap for my 1985 Sunfish and it doesn't fit. The diameter is 2.11" and the old one is 2.06". So roughly 1/16" too big. Did they change the inside diameter of the mast?

I see a lot of stress cracks around his mainsheet block. This is a mod that I was thinking about adding to our 1985 Sunfish. Are the cracks there because they didn't use a stiff enough backing plate? I'd hate to do the mod and then add even more cracks to the deck.
