Occasionally I find that the sheet has worked its way round my ankles, but not often enough that I would call it a major problem. I have found that whatever boat I have sailed (mostly Enterprise but Laser fairly regularly the past few years), I know to flick the mainsheet away from my feet once...
ideally i would have pie & chips after a sail, accompanied by as many beers as seems appropriate :)
speaking of beers, i have often found my sunday morning performance at regattas to be surprisingly good... until i sober up anyway :P
I have seen a couple of boats with a cleat which was mounted upside down on the centre block, and also angled higher than usual, so it is really difficult to accidentally cleat the mainsheet :)
i get there eventually (sometimes i just forget to read this forum!)... the orange is dulux gloss which i got for £1 a can and the black is a satin from one of the diy chains :-)

The colour scheme was copied from the previous hull (I had paint left over!), I had done a lot of repair work on the deck/gunwales and it really looked shabby when I finished. I'd already decided the hull would be orange - mostly because the paint was knocked down to £1 per can - and...
Just realised i never posted the photos of my Laser as a "work in progress" - have sailed her half a dozen times now and already feel rewarded for the effort :-)
My previous Laser hull went missing last winter so I already had spars, foils, trolley, sail - the hull came from ebay and cost me...
AFAIK a boat of that age wouldn't have the serial number on the transom like a new boat would - not in the UK anyway!
However I do know of a couple of 1xxxxx boats with the cockpit plate you refer to, and I'm sure the "1" was only printed/painted onto the plate rather than stamped like the rest...
You'll need to replace it really. A 5mm drill (i think) should be what you need to take the top off the existing rivets, then you can take the fairlead off and knock the remainder of the rivets into the boom. They'll rattle around inside forever unless you take the end cap off so you can get...

Was filling an insurance proposal for my new boat yesterday and browsed the stolen boats list out of curiosity - was surprised to see my friend's sail number there!
She bought the boat in good faith about 7 months ago from a member of another local club and has enjoyed the season but now that...
she looks in similar condition to the hull i've just about finished (and better than the previous one i did!) - shouldn't cause you too much trouble :)

edit: i fixed dents/holes like that with epoxy filler, only used glass for bigger sections...
That's something I've been meaning to give a try - I thought of two hydrofoils attached to the hull by some means rather than to the foils. As wide as the waterline and maybe 4 or 6 inches below the hull, just enough to decrease the wetted area but not compromise steering etc.
Might get to build...
i was meaning to get round to making a logo for mine too - i have some blue whatever-you-call-it-the-numbers-are-made-of, and as the official logo is red there will be no confusion! :P
