Vince,
Thank you for taking the time to talk with me. The information you have supplied has boosted my confidence in getting this done.
Downloaded the "book" as suggested.
Plenty of other great information on this thread.
Now if the weather will cooperate for next weekend, I will tackle my...
Deck. Port side next to main hatch. There is / was a crack. I epoxied in a piece of glass to reinforce, epoxied the outside to seal it.
Some show using a filler with the epoxy to put the core in, then supporting it.
Also saw that the balsa needs a good coating of epoxy. Should that be with...
I have removed wet core from the inside.
I have some questions as to how epoxy in the new core and then glass over it. ( I have watched a few YouTube's, but still have questions...)
Anyone willing to talk on the phone? DM me
Thanks, Pete
I'm no expert on this, but If truly interested, see if you can empty the water out and inspect for any signs of seeping into fiberglass.
Is it old enough to have vermiculite in the bilge? Was it removed?
Cover the mast step hole, duct tape or upside down Tupperware and a brick to keep it there...
Lots of things to consider. What else is wet? Deck soft spots from wet core. How did the water get in? How far above the sump?
Did it freeze? Is everything else available, mast, boom, sails, rudder and tiller?
Most importantly, how much work are you willing to do vs spending a few more $$ for a...
ECSA here in Connecticut is thinking of doing a single handed and double handed distance race of about 30 miles.
Has anyone or does anyone here do that type of racing?
Do a little research on making a gin pole or maybe someone nearby has one.
Whatever method tie a loop around the mast, then the free end of the line to the spinnaker pole bracket allowing the loop to go just below the spreaders so you don't lift it by the spreaders.
Two people works best.
I cannot find my Boom Vang anywhere.
So I bought the blocks needed to replace it. I need the line lengths and diameters.
8:1 so it's a 4:1 with the 2:1 block.
Thanks, Pete
This will be my first year putting the boat up for winter.
In the past (40 years ago) we covered our family Coaster with a canvas.
When I purchased 4800 it was shrink wrapped, that my plan for this year.
The mast will go on top across the pulpits. When I unwrapped, they had taped the plastic...
My season is getting shortened because of a shoulder rotator cuff tear. Going through stuff that needs attention so I can line it all up for post surgery recoup and hit the sea full on next season.
