Helllo people, I have a trailer question. I've build my own trailer for my Sunfish and as you canb see in the pictures I've used two black rubber supports, the meassure 2,5 inch by 20 inch. Yesterday I turned my Sunfish upside down and saw that the rubbert supports made a small imprint in my...
I live in Huizen in the Netherlands, a smaill town that used to be a little village near the sea. Most of the people were fishermen and sailed the 'Zuiderzee' (Southsea) in their 'Huizer botters'. The fleet used to be more than 100 boats. We still have some 'Huizer Botters, some are 100 years...
Thanks for the compliments Cactus Cowboy. The Dutch are indeed grazy about sailing and boats. To illustrate this feeling: Here's a picture of 'Sail Amsterdam', an event that takes place every 5 years and everything that floats will be on the waters then.
Thanks for your positive messages! I'm glad that I did a good job. Shouldn't my black rubber bunks be placed underneath the cockpit directly? Or are they in a fine position?
Hello Sunfish people, I have a question about my trailer. I've completly rebuild my trailer because I didn't like it the way it was when I bought mt Sunfish. (See the pics) It had a big and heavy box at the rear for storage purpose. So I had to figure out myself how the new and better trailer...
Thank you very much guys. This helps a lot. So, I probably have a 40 year old Sunfish! Ofcourse this is not a problem. Yesterday, I was sailing side by side with a big modern sailing boat. And even though I was sailing at the leeward side, I was going a lot faster and overtook the other boat...
It used to be salt but around 1930 they build a huge dike called the 'Afsluitdijk' and then is was a disconnected from the sea and slowly it turned into a sweetwater lake. Below are a before map and how it looks now. The orange line with 'E22' in it is the big dike called Afsluitdijk
Thank you my friends. It was a great day and I will post some more pics when I go out sailing the next time. @Wavedancer I just lanched my boat in the harbour from a slope and paddled out of the harbour. When I was away from the boats in the harbour I raised my sail and that worked fine...
Yesterday was a beautifull day overhere and I had a great little sailing trip in our lake Called Gooimeer which used to be a sea in the old days. It was 90 fahrenheit and the wind was average strong. So, a great day! I carried my Sunfish not on the roof of my old Chevy Caprice but behind it...
Hi guys, I'm still a bit struggling how to maintain course when I stop peddeling and want to raise my sail. So, if anyone has thoughts, ideas, tips please let me know. Thanks in advance!
Hahaha, thank you guys for all the tips and good advices. @beldar boathead, I've purchased this great vehicle 18 years ago and it still drives like a brandnew car, allthough it has 275.000 miles on the clock! These wagons came standard with roofrails and they still work fine. I wasn't sure if...
Many thanks for all the good snd helpfull tips. I'll just give it a go next summer and try different options, paddling, or launching the Sunfish at a different location
