Got her bought and pleased
Its a Crompton (labels on box) from England and labelled as authorized sunfish class
Magnet sticks
Fair bit longer than the original wood board i warped by removing finish and putting project aside
Cant wait to try it
It will just be for recreational sailing so not worried about the legal aspect
So it should be fine? As far as working well? I have only had 2 wooden daggerboards and this looks a bit different but i have never other than pics even seen a composite one
Thanks
Going to look and hopefully buy a locally advertised daggerboard tomorrow (for a sunfish)
Its a composite type (apparently brand new) made by skeeter products. I tried looking online but havent had any luck finding any info on this type.
does anyone have any knowledge or experience with this...
In my sunfish there is a smallish (3/16 ish) hole in the front wall of the cockpit (centre) and a larger 3/4” approx hole in the rear upper port side. The large one had screw holes on either side of it. Just wondering what these might have been for at on time. Currently just a good way to let...

When doing that dresser using the wetting technique you mentioned did you clamp once wet and brace in position till dry, then refinish? Would like to try this but trying to think my way through that and uncertain. Thanks for the idea
Well I was all keen last fall to redo my sunfish. One of the projects was repairing the wooden daggerboard and I removed the finish with chemical stripper down to bare wood but then life got busy and project got put aside. Decided to get back on it and to my dismay I see my daggerboard now has...

Thanks for that suggestion. In my picture it does look like it is resting in the coaming but it isnt actually. The foam i put between the boat and the 2x4's is bulging out a bit and makes it appear as if its resting on the coaming.
I had it right up against the edge of the coaming though
For those of you that have ripped off the damaged areas and replaced with new mahogony. Are you just gluing the 2 flat surfaces together or are you adding anything else like screws or dowels to those to aid in the connection
What type if adhesive is best for this type of repair?
Is it just...
Needed to get our sunfish home to do some repairs and dry it out a bit. I don't have a trailer and wasn't sure how I was going to manage it. My wife lent me her Subaru Forester but while it has roof rails running front to back it does not have rails running across. I had read somewhere on...
Would you suggest the liquid or paste version of the g flex product?
Wondering how much i would go through (which size i should order)looks like 4 oz of each (8 oz) total for the small package
Would that be enough once mixed with the 407?
Thanks for the response
First time doing this type of repair
been trying to search for tips for repairing daggerboards but only seem to find info on repairing finishes. I have a daggerboard with damage from hitting submerged rocks and want to repair it prior to sailing this year but need some advice on products to use and if any advice on the procedure...
