    1966 Sunfish

Well, I have one like that, was a couple years newer and not quite as heavy (180 lbs). Used two inspection ports, some time and a $15 computer fan and the boat weighs 130ish pounds. The foam is structural and removing is a pain in the butt. I will let the more experience people give you...

Looking for safety tips for sailing all alone

My club requires PFD's be worn at all times, but the swim test includes putting on a PFD in the water ( I think just to show you how hard it is)

Adding cleat on mast for halyard

I cheated, used ss screws and some 5200 to attach. Would have had to buy a rivet tool.

    Aqua Finn: opinions

I have an American 14.6 from the same company. Great people to deal with. They know I bought the boat 4th hand, but still go out of their way to answer questions and help me when they can. Highly recommend the company

    How wet is too wet?

Bought 2 Sunfish and a trailer (well really wanted the trailer). One of the Sunfish is in pretty good shape, for an a fifty year old boat. The other is very wet, probably filled with water at some time and missing sails and spars. I put the bad one up for free and craigslist as I didn't want...

Taking sailing lessons on a sunfish this weekend

Right now it is closed again for swimming. We had no problems or saw any HAB sheets of algae. I would probably sail, but the sailing club is cancelling until they get the all clear. We got lucky that they had a couple days open and closed again

Taking sailing lessons on a sunfish this weekend

Had my Sunfish sailing lessons. Had a blast, my thanks to the instructors of the Hunterdon Sailing Club. Wind was pretty brisk and rolled it twice. Main differences I found between my American 14-6 and the Sunfish were: 1. My American tacks easier and maintains speed better through a tack...
