    Thanks for all the replies. I thought some shaping to get a tight fit would be a good thing. My shaping may be a little more than most - mostly the sides at top of the wedge. Glad to have some experts to check with before I started hacking!

    Tiller Constanly Hitting Traveller Cleat

    I had that problem one time and was thinking about using a shim. before I got around to doing that, the lower rudder gudgeon fell off. After replacing it - the problems was solved - no shim needed! So I would check the gudgeons first.

    Wind indicators-good or bad?

    This was my first year racing and many times I found myself losings positions on the upwind legs. I added a windvane midseason (Kingfisher I believe)and found it helped me be more consistant on those upwind legs
