Got a phantom sailboat and restored it....I also restored s sunfish a few years back.....my thoughts on both boats is that the phantom is more comfortable, the edges of the cockpit are smoother and larger...The sleeved sail seems to give a better foil...the wider beam gives at times a faster more...
I have a 82 phantom sailboat that I am restoring...the rudder system is such that it fits on the gudgeon ..I think it's called.....by gravity alone and we just hope it doesn't come off...does anyone know if there is a clip or another part that assists it in place?? Thanks
I need to reinforce a foam block inside the hull...4 feet on port side..saw this expanding foam called "pond and stone"..it comes in a aerosol can...it's totally waterproof and does not absorb water...the company states their yellow expanding foam absorbs water but not this....anyone ever use...
I have been reading a lot of info on leakage of phantoms around the bailer.I am going to remove the bailer entirely and only use a plug.I have done the same thing with my sunfish and it has worked well since I only sail a lake.removing the phantom bailer entirely leaves 4 holes..I will epoxy...
I have a waterlogged phantom I was given weighs 165 lbs and I want to put 2 ports in...are the best locations the same as a sunfish...between daggerboard and coaming ?6 inch from rudder?also this boat is wider than my sunfish...seems it would be fater, less drag.
