    SOS water in the hull

Had no idea that was a drain plug! Man I feel dumb.....but disaster averted, I got the water out though the deck plug. How would I go about an air test? But a deepwell 36mm then hey? Mystery solved, thanks everyone that's why I love this board!

    SOS water in the hull

I tried a 1 1/8" that was too small and 1" 7/16 was too big so im guessing it's a inch and 5/16 but thats not right either so I tried metric and that didn't work. The hex head isn't damaged or stripped, it's in perfect shape so I am at a loss here.

    SOS water in the hull

So I discovered yesterday that my hull has a fair amount of water in it, big problem but even bigger with the freezing Michigan winter coming fast. The only place I would guess it came in at is though the base o-ring of the old metal bailer. I was in the middle of trying to replace the bailer...

Hugely frustrating experience, what went wrong?

I finally had wind to work with today, nearly identical conditions to when I made the original post. I ended up in a similar spot once but I remembered what was said here and got out of it no problem, a little advice goes a long ways :). Thanks for the tips everyone! But as has been said I think...

Hugely frustrating experience, what went wrong?

One thing I think that hurts me a bit in a sunfish is all my prior experience with sailing is on a Hobie 16 and all the verbal advice, tips and tricks I know (outside what I've read on here) is from my dad who is a seasoned H16/H14 sailor. I am trying to run courses on a Sunfish like I'm on a...

Hugely frustrating experience, what went wrong?

Sounds like I was on the right track by grabbing the boom And pushing into the wind past the center line, I didn't hold it there real long because the boat didn't seem to react much. After seeing all the replies, what may have doomed that attempt was while I had my rudder turned the right way...

Hugely frustrating experience, what went wrong?

I took my fish out for the third time ever two days ago and I had the most frustrating experience I've ever had on the water. I'll do my best to describe what was going on so a maybe a more experienced fish sailor can tell me what went wrong so I can not have this happen again. So at the lake...

    Can not find HIN

Wow wouldn't have guessed it was that old, thanks everyone! Now question is is this in the Pre HIN era? I had a old Jon boat from the 50s that was not issued on so the good ole Michigan SS cut me a break and issued me tags without one. Granted that boat had MC numbers from back in the day still...

    Can not find HIN

Hi all, Been using as many of the resources on here but I'm stumped once more. I can't find the HIN on my boat. It's not on the transom and I can find no other tag besides the one by the splash guard or obvious remnants of where one was. I need the HIN for registration purposes as it has never...

    Thoughts on Bailer replacement

This is what I have, I am having second thoughts on replacing it, at least right now. What am I lacking? I think just the plug itself

    Thoughts on Bailer replacement

O-rings ok on the ball assembly? Just run a bead around the edge of the bailer housing in the bottom of the boat?

    Thoughts on Bailer replacement

Hi all, My on going craigslist project is moving forward, now I need to replace the bailer. I picked up a full kit plastic one today and I just wanted some input on it. I think I understand how to get the old metal one off but what I am wondering is when putting the new one on is there any...

Sunfish never rigged for Main Block

What great info here by all of you! Thank you all very much! Sounds like I have the block for the job just need a few other parts but I have the part numbers now so this should be no sweat. I think I'll try the hook alone first, just to see what that's like since the upgrade doesn't sound like...

Sunfish never rigged for Main Block

Thanks for the replies! What a relief I didn't have a odd ball! I did some digging though my the surplus sailing stuff in the shed and found a Harken ratchet block, have a look. It has a selector to go from ratchet to free spin, guessing its left over from my dads Lightning. Would need the...
