I think we have talked about this before... and there still seems to be no information. But we can offer guesses based on the past:
at both last year’s ILCA 7 worlds and women’s ILCA 6 worlds and the WS youth worlds, the male fleet was supplied by Devoti and female fleet by Element Six
at this...
This is from another L2 thread a couple of years back, hope it helps:
If your boat doesn't have a spinnaker bag (they have a strange tendency to vanish), here's the measurements of what I believe is an original one:
I'd add an extra flap or some other mechanism that prevents the sail...
The one with the white line is the one and only Laser 2 vang!
(By the way, that line is threaded incorrectly at the cleat block - it should come out on the opposite side of the sheave. It’s looks very short, too, as it should be reachable from the helm, and have a good sized loop at the end...
I don’t remember anyone ever doing exactly that, but I did have the cleat mounted ”upside down” on top of the swivel arm of the 144 on my 505. You just need some spacers between the cleat and the arm so there is room for the sheet to run freely. Worked absolutely beautifully on an...
Nope, that’s the 144. The swivel arm is noticeably shorter on the 205 (I have one on my Lightning). Inexplicable why Harken doesn’t show the actual fitting even on its own page.

205 is still listed in their brand new catalogue that I got from the boat show last week :)
(Although for many years now, there’s been no picture of it anywhere for some reason.)

The Class40 is a ”box-rule” class, meaning it has just a few maximum (or minimum) measurements, and you can come up with anything within those. Every boat can be a different design. That is very much the opposite of the Sunfish, which actually pioneered the single-manufacturer one-design...
If GER 3947 is the correct/original sail number, then it’s a 1979. The huge tiller port on a Nautivela also points to the same era.
Looks very nice for its age!

Measure the gap. There should be not more than some 15 mm of play in the fore-and-aft direction, and about 5 mm sideways. The exact tolerances are (as stated by Performance Sailcraft Australia, via forum member b12 :) ):
Lower section diameter is dependent upon the rig as follows:
Lower...
Conor, you may appreciate a historical perspective here:
When the Olympics were held in your home waters, the winner in the Laser was your weight but 5 cm shorter.
The close runner-up was your height but 2 kg lighter.
The lightest competitor was 71 kg, and he finished sixth.
(The preceding...
Here are a few :D
First, a couple of rules of thumb: 1) Never assume that anything applicable to the Laser (ILCA) is applicaple to the Laser 2, and 2) Never assume that your boat’s previous owner had any clue how to rig, tune or sail it...
And now for some specifics that I noticed in the...
Have you tried Fogh Marine in Toronto? Looks to me that they have both blocks, the RWO R4970 cleat block and the R1080 boom block:

RWO Laser 2 Vang Double Block (Needs R4890 Key)
You’re probably missing the R4890 vang key...
YES, Monika Mikkola made it into the medal race and got our country qualified to Paris 2024 :) Now we participate again in both ILCA classes at the Games :)
Regarding the ”Bulgarian” sailor, she is actually a Russian who tried to get to the Olympics by changing countries a bit too late...
Does anyone know something about the Bulgarian sailor’s sudden and complete deletion from the regatta? She was one of the competitors who are trying to get their Olympic country qualification here. (I am following this because another sailor in that group is from my neighbouring club :) )
Did...
Interesting. PSA started building boats in February 1974, but the numbers were already five-digit by then. If the hull/sail number is 5768, that would be an early 1973 build. The ”A” most likely has nothing to do with the date.
Your fellow Aussies might know more, not least PSA itself. Or...
I believe that was one of the standard PSE colours around 1990.
For the Laser 13 and 16 I think that was the only available colour (at least at the time): HSS Laser 16 Match 2013

Some thoughts.
1) You don’t really need splices on a Laser/ILCA. Of course they are stronger than knots, but it makes no difference in practice as Dyneema itself is so crazy strong to begin with.
2) IF you absolutely want to splice (admittedly it’s fun and the results look neat), use simple...
I guess one should always read the thread title before posting an answer...
So if it really is a rule 69 (Misconduct) case, then it’s whole another can of worms. No protest would be needed (it actually wouldn’t even be grounds for one), and it’s up to the race...
