    Damages...

Got blown around pretty hard this morning. Nearly knocked down twice before I gave up and called it. Unfortunately damaged the pintle strap. New one ordered-I could fix it, but I have a history with rudder problems and I want it 'perfect', Stripped the screw right out... bolt and thread...

    Whisker pole

Any reason I can't make one from a wooden dowl? The cost is prohibitive for a factory item. Thoughts??? Ideas??? Pat

    Got blown down today...

Everything worked as planned-mast float and ladder. Silly idiot driving the boat... who takes a capri out in winds at 15-20 with gusts to 40? I did. Alone. Everything was fine until I was forced into a nasty jibe (I could not execute a tack to save my life within a series of massive gusts.)...

my girls now use the boat as a diving platform... We put the boat in the lake and on the buoy for the summer and my girls won't stay off it. Now just need them to be as interested in SAILING it!

Baby Bob installed with just a drill!!!

Used the factory brackets from Hobie. Took them off the float and mounted them to the Capri mast at the top drilled new holes centered in the bracket. Then I eyeballed the float to the bracket, made some small bends with channel locks and marked the new holes for the float mounts. Removed...

    Possible masthead for baby bob

I called Catalina Direct today and talked with a young man who clearly didn't "get it" ; but, I got an answer just the same (Edsel and a Chevy indeed!) The C-15 mast head is the right size for my 96 Capri mast. Unfortunately, it is $179 bucks... not willing to shell that out and still possibly...

    A ladder installed-with pictures

Wild Bill asked that I post pictures-so here they are. Install was really quit easy and only took a bit over an hour. I used a 4 1/4 hole saw to cut the opening for the Beckson deck plate - quick and accurate (or round if you like)! I made a rookie mistake and followed the transom line for...

Mounting a baby Bob on the Seldon Rig masthead questions

So, I have an older Capri. Want to mount a Baby Bob. Will the Seldon masthead work on my mast extrusion? Anyone know how wide the top is... will it fit the baby bob spacing? Thanks in advance Pat

    Deck plate question

So i plan to put to Beckson 4" deck plates on the vertical surface in the back of the cockpit so i can gain access to mount a ladder (on one side-two for symmetry.) Do i need to use threaded bolts with nuts or is the glass thick enough to support a wood type screw? thanks Pat

Anyone make a watertight cover for the cubby?

My capri has a large and a spacious cubby (not the storage area of the later boats) and I would like to know if anyone ever made a cover; like a kayak spay skirt, to cover it so if one turtles it stays dry? My current cover is a wooden door that doesn't fit well so I am open to any thing...

    Roller furler question

So, we bought a used 1996 capri 14.2 last summer with no directions or help to set it up. No biggie as I have been around small boats my whole life; however, I have never used a roller furler. It was nothing but a pain all summer, so I would like to know how it is supposed to be set up, and...

Another ladder Question for a 14.2....

So I have read through the threads here on mounting a ladder to the transom of a 14.2. We purchased a used 1996 boat last summer and had a fantastic time of it on our local Wisconsin lakes-even entered a local race on lake Superior and took 7th overall and class (Beating all the 420's!!!)...
