Yes. They have threadserts in the plastic. I had to re drill holes due to the width of the Capri mast. This set up has been used over and over as my girls love tipping the boat over-we keep it on a buoy all summer. They climb the ladder in and tip the boat over at will. Fun game. Never...
Bent the whole strap plate-the part with the pins that attaches to the rudder assembly. I ordered a new strap plate from Catalina Direct. Two days to my door.

Got blown around pretty hard this morning. Nearly knocked down twice before I gave up and called it. Unfortunately damaged the pintle strap. New one ordered-I could fix it, but I have a history with rudder problems and I want it 'perfect', Stripped the screw right out... bolt and thread...
I did one last year and posted here; but, here are some photos. I chose to mount my deck plate on the vertical of the seat rather than on top-less likely to hurt and or leak... I used teak (because I had it laying around) as a spacer between the ladder and the transom. Inside I used a 3" x...
I have looked into having the main set up with reefing points. Just haven't done it yet. If we were to commit to more time on lake Superior, I think it would be a must.
A storm jib-two weeks ago I would have scoffed at the idea because I had been told that the Capri couldn't go down on the...
Thanks-I didn't get knocked over by the jibe. In fact everyone that saw the maneuver commented on how well I did in that wind. The only negative outcome of the jibe was that I did not have the jib close hauled as I had attempted a tack (fourth one!) that failed and had to do something or run...
I went and looked up a Vagabond as I don't know the boat. They are small... with lots of sail... That said most small boats are over canvased-that is why they are so addictively fun to sail. Practice will be the cure. I have a Janus Ghost which is a mere 13 feet long with a 20 foot mast ...
Well done-looks great. I chose a Baby Bob, and had a chance to use it this week. As the mast was in the lake I noticed that even with the larger size of the Baby Bob it was completely submerged... As such, if I was to do this again using your float system, I think I would opt for the larger...
Thanks for the support. I know the principle as I owned a Hobbie 14 for years; and, without a jib it was a challenge of finesse getting one to tack ( often a jibe was just safer and easier...) but the wind was so intense that the Capri would just die and be blown back into the reach I was on...
Everything worked as planned-mast float and ladder. Silly idiot driving the boat... who takes a capri out in winds at 15-20 with gusts to 40? I did. Alone. Everything was fine until I was forced into a nasty jibe (I could not execute a tack to save my life within a series of massive gusts.)...
my girls now use the boat as a diving platform... We put the boat in the lake and on the buoy for the summer and my girls won't stay off it. Now just need them to be as interested in SAILING it!
