I am in the process of looking for a new sail, and I found one for a good price on Ebay. the seller says that it was made by a company named "Haarstick". I had heard that the only two manufacturers legal for class racing were North and Hyde. Would I be able to race with this sail? I have...
thanks. anyways... thanks for the advice all :) again.. i don't know exactly how fast the winds were?.. sorry if i disappointed you, horizontal sailing :)
not sure what the wind speed in knots was, but i know that it was supposed to be about 30 kilometres per hour. That was said in a weather report, I don't know how fast that is or if it would be the same out on the water. However, the boat would tip if i left it on its own for maybe a minute...
sorry... the boat wasn't ON the dock, it was AT the dock :) The winds were such that I couldn't even hold the sail or it would tip. I had to hold the mast from the dock to prevent it from tipping a lot of the time. Hold on... maybe if it was this windy then i shouldn't have gone out at all? :)
High winds today... i tried to rig and I couldn't really. I was rigging on a dock and I could barely get a hold of the sail. My 1980 Laser kept on tipping when I left it, so I decided to wait for another day. Any tips on rigging in high winds?

yeah... when i search "Laser M" on the forum or anywhere else it automatically takes out the M and just searches Laser... didnt have much luck :P Thanks.
PS... Anyone want to buy it? :)
I recently purchased a 1980 laser in great condition. However, when I looked at the top mast section, it has a fairlead and clam cleat riveted in right at the top. Do I take it out or what?... is it even a Laser mast?
curious... the laser I just bought has a fairlead at the top of the upper mast section. I didnt know why it was there, but i figured i could just take it out... what does the top of an M mast look like?
As Rob said, I think you could find a decent Laser for about a thousand. I got my 1980 (but in great condition) for $1000 (canadian). It was basic (wooden tiller, old sail controls) but those can be bought later.
I am getting a good sail sometime in the near future... but what would be the advantage of the new vang versus the old one with a couple extra blocks? It seems to me like all it does is increase power ratio. Also, carbon fibre tiller versus normal one?...
hi all
I recently bought a used laser. It came in very good condition, and I upgraded it with the Cunningham/Outhaul Racing Kit. It has a normal wooden tiller, regular boom vang... on and on.
Just wondering; What's the best money I could spend on my boat right now? Looking to start racing this...
