Two boats on a Kitty Hawk -- the Laser sandwich

BTW, for materials I'm looking at this 1/2" PVC trim for the planks and two layers of 2" extruded polystyrene for the filler. Glued together and maybe (maybe not?) bolted.

    Wisconsin

Anyone who's been to Devil's Lake in Wisconsin will agree I'm not giving away any secrets here... it's a beautiful place to camp, hike, swim and boat. One of my Lasers spent its early years sailing on Devil's Lake with its previous owner. I returned it to that spot this weekend.

Two boats on Kitty Hawk trailer

Now that summer is about to be history, thought I'd post my lessons learned from several trips with the Laser sandwich. New thread for that: Two boats on a Kitty Hawk -- the Laser sandwich | SailingForums.com

Two boats on a Kitty Hawk -- the Laser sandwich

I made this rig to carry two boats because it's way funner to sail with a friend or your brother or your kid. And that's what I've been up to this summer. It's still plenty warm here in northern Illinois, so I'm not done for the season. But after building this rig and dragging it around the...

    96' olympics Laser

Hmm. My boat has the "Centennial Olympic Games" lettering and logo/design baked into the hull. It has stickers with the Olympic logo and "Atlanta 1996" on all the parts (hull, boards, spars). I also have a sail with the 3-letter code for the sailor's country, and the sailor's last name. I have...

    Talk to me about storage

The hoist pictured above is a great solution, especially if you have a nice tall garage. If ceiling height is a problem for others, try hanging the boat across the width of the garage -- behind the raised door, instead of above it. I'm cheap, so I rigged up something similar with eye bolts and...

Appraising a laser to set price for sale?

Great to hear it went to a young sailor. I'm currently focused on getting my 14-year-old on the water as much as possible. Wow, if I'd seen this thing for sale a month ago, I would have driven over there and bought it from you myself. Just shows I need to read the forums more often!

Appraising a laser to set price for sale?

Hi Fabrizio. I have this same boat and trailer, in about the same condition. I paid around $2k a few years ago. Depending on where you are, I think you could expect as much as $2500. With upgraded rigging, maybe $3k. Have you sold it yet? I'd love to know the result.

Two boats on Kitty Hawk trailer

p.s. -- The Kitty Hawk guys had one, but it appears they have not been in business for a few years. Kitty Hawk Trailers - Custom trailers to transport Laser sailboats This is very similar to what I'm planning to build.

Two boats on Kitty Hawk trailer

Hey guys, I'd like to reboot this thread on stacking two Lasers on a Kitty Hawk trailer. I can only find one place in the world that sells a set of stacking braces with spar holders, and they are in the merry old U.K.: Laser Dinghy Stacker For Towing - TridentUK Anyone know a U.S. supplier of...
