For the batten problem, why don't you try and tip the boat (while it's fully rigged) take out the battens and then wrap the sail around? I've heard of some transport solutions with velcro infront of the mast, but I'm not too sure how that would work/ hold.
Thanks for all the replies, I'll be looking for a standard rig. However I did have quite a few problems yesterday downwind not capsizing in gusty conditions (10 knots normal wind, gusts up to 18kts)... But I hope that I just need more practice
Which of the two gybes would be the better one since Andrew applies two different techniques?
1st: Pulling in mainsheet and then tugging on the mainsheet at the traveller block or
2nd: pulling in mainsheet and the tugging infront of the mainsheet block...
Or are both acceptable/ undecided...

Good luck with your first big regatta! Always a special moment. As Torrid already mentioned, don't get intimidated by all the screaming and what ever else is going on the course, but do give a check to leeward sometimes... Everything in the regatta is won on the first leg so be sure to be good...
