More than 100'000 European citizien protested today in Italy against the plans of Goerge W. Bush. I just want to say that there are many people out there who don't like at all what Bush is doing. And not all of those people live in countries like Iraq or Afghanistan.
The "axis of evil" seems...
sorry, i think you got something wrong. It's OneWorld who will be deducted one point, not Alinghi. Have a look at http://www.cupviews.com/database/Livearticle.asp?ArtID=1526417822
"OneWorld began Round Robin 1 with a -1 point penalty issued by the arbitration panel as a result of the Team...
OneWorld lost against Alinghi in Round Robin 2 and Alinghi lost against OneWorld in RR1, mainly because Alinghi screwed up the start. I think OneWorld has two awesome boats, but i'm not too sure if Spithill will be able to match the experience of Russel Coutts.
I also think that it will be pretty tough to beat Team New Zealand. They are still very strong even they lost the "old guard". New Zealanders are dominating the sailing world in all kind of races. I just returned from a one year stay in New Zealand. I got the chance to meet a few guys of TNZ...
With a GPS, you can only get a really reliable speed indication on flat water. The GPS speed indication is based on the distance made good from one coordinate to another coordinate. So it's not actually the speed (through the water) you are experiencing when you are for example surfing down a...
i don't know about the prices over in America, but those little things are pretty cheap here in Switzerland (the cheapest ones are around $150) I think that's still cheaper than stuffing your centerboard....
If you didn't have too many crashs or the boat is leaking, the hull shouldn't be a major factor that will affect your ranking at a regatta. More important are boat handling, good strategy and tactics. I'm racing a 20 year old Laser and didn't have huge problems keeping up with other brand new...
If you have enough wind to get the boat planing dead downwind, this will be the fastest way to get to the leeward mark. Otherwise it will be faster to go higher or sail by the lee. The problem with sailing dead downwind is, that the wind is not flowing over both sides of your sail. It is just...
Hi!
The formula for calculating the theoretical maximum hull speed (in knots) is: 1.34 x the square root of the boat's waterline length in feet. But as soon as you get your boat out of its own wave (ie when you're planing), you'll be able to sail much faster.
