Why the laser.
Simply enough, the fact that you are on a forum of great people, and great sailors. The fact that as I write this, there are 60 people browsing this forum shows how large the class is. With sail numbers in the 180,000's, and racers everywhere, you will never have trouble finding...
I have used the prototype of the sleeve, and my determination is that its great for when i was training every day out on the water, because it was quick and easy, but when i went to a race, i felt more secure with the strap. It is definitely a great product, and unless you are winning every...
do you have a garage. i dont car top my lazer, but i do have a double decker sytech trailer. i have a hoist on the top of my garage so i can lift up the boat and flip it on the slings and put it on top by myself. i love it. The laser sailor has an advertisement for a cheapish one. mine was...
just a note. i have been using the prototype of the JC BOOM sleeve for a while now, and have experienced all sorts of conditions and wind. To be totaly un-biased, it has some kinks to work out. currently i run my bungee cord through the clue of the sail, but that is a pain, and defeats the...
fyi, if the mainsheet leingth is 46', how can it be at 90 degrees when it is at 46'. a 46"'mainsheet lets you go out to about 120 degrees. i am gona take an educated guess and say about 42' is about 92 degrees. thats just a guess. correct me if i am wrong
Thanks to Merrily, i just recived a prototype of the JC Boom Sleeve. I just finished putting it on my boom, and it looks and works perfectly. I actualy had trouble putting it on and tying it to my outhaul line because it kept on mooving up and down the boom. Now that it is on, i can see that i...
If we are talking about carbon hulls, i sugest a hull change (i know i am crazy) why not recess the deck cleats into the hull so that they dont tear things up/or be uncomfortable.its a thought

I have had a bad experience with this problem. At the junior olympic festival in newport last year, there was NO wind. We were all sitting around in our boats, drifting away, when they started the race. I was not far from the line at all, but in the middle of the bay. The current did not allow...
I CAN NOT jybe. I consider myself a tacking master, with huge, but quick light air rolls and smooth heavy wind tacks. But i cannot jybe. I just cant. I tried the cockrill thing after he talked near my YC, but i just cant. could someone give me a runthrough???
You cannot reserve hull numbers from vanguard. You cannot purchase boats from vanguard. The dealer does not know the hullnumber untill it comes. And i am sure that they will give hull 200,000 to someone of great importance. I tried though
Just wondering if anyone has tried the new zhik life jacket. It seems very thin, and beautifuly simplistic. As a tall person, it looks easier to get under the boom.
This would not change the way you hike. It is just like having two straps sown together, to make an oval, and putting your feet in between. THis allows you to tack and immediately hike on the other side becasue you would already be in the strap.
I found that if i did capsize, they did come off. I dissabled the bunge cord so that if i am not hiking, the two sides seperate, and it is easy to come out. I think that for heavy winds and high chop, they may be a bad idea for saftey, but in 8-13 knots, they seemed fine. Then again, i weigh in...
