All good points are I agree with one exception. Global membership of the ILCA is either static or experiencing mild growth. I think the market potential is growing faster than population growth - because of increased affluence - again an overall global phenomena. The demise of the Laser is...
Next item on the schedule is a motions hearing on 21 May.
I don't think the majority of Laser sailing is affected. What seems to be a bigger threat is the emergence of the RS Aero - they seem to be active in most markets - but have a long way before they get anything close to the market...
Thanks for posting that 'Whatever'.

9. Unjust Enrichment (Against Kirby, BKI And Global Sailing)
After a quick Google, here's something that surprised me:

With the advert, BS or not, it would be good to see an official response that it is BS. Be great to hear something like: according to the data at the 2014 World Champs in Santander the boats have...
You hit the nail on the head LaLi (again), and in spite of what I said above about spending money, last two races I sailed in were both won by an old club boat with the old style kicker.
Bottom line, racing in a boat with lesser gear is better than not racing at all!
Think of it as two separate purchases... I think you'd be able to sell the vang separately if you wish when you part with your boat - it will be worth more with the right kit... because Lasers are sooo much easier to make adjustments with the new kit... think of it less as sound financial...
Spend a few dollars and get a system that works!
I've shared this with quite a few (I don't know the guy who made it) and get positive comments about it. Read the comments for even more tips:
Either way, the ILCA / UKLA should be all over it like a bad rash. Even if the differences are perceived, then it's still bad for the class. I'm hoping the ILCA gets real vocal about this.
Just one more month to go for discovery to end. Am spending time rereading the IYRU Agreement, shaking my head and wondering about the future of the ILCA.
Today being November 11 is also the 9th anniversary of the signing of the builder's contract with LaserPerformance Europe. (Quarter Moon...
The Laser TM is only relevant for the majority of Laser parts if the ILCA make it so via the class rules - with the exception of the hull and the sail. Everything else doesn't have to have the sunburst logo, even though some do and some don't. We can expect the manufactured cost to be less than...
Agree that the Australian and Japanese builders care about the class. However the same issues still exist in the market down under.
I bought a self bailer in NZ for NZ$95 (US$81). There were replica ones available for less ($65 from memory), though at that time I thought I was going to be...
Shame. Though can't help wondering with the legal case, the possibility of 'the system' being re-evaluated / re-created is maybe a little higher than zero.
Buy some white one sided sticky and stick then to your sleeve. Did that for a practice sail and got a few more years use out of it.
Most sailmakers have it.
Why not brand these parts as "ILCA" (or have "ILCA License No. xxxxx-xxx")and have the ILCA control the manufacture and sale? Each part is contracted for a limited time, say 4 years, and then must re-bid to the ILCA to get the approval to have the trademark.
We will then have a lower cost of...
And the Huffington report was actually quite kind. I wonder, now that 2 years has passed, how much of the reparation was paid? I note that in the bankruptcy back in 2012, Rastegar was listed as being owed $113,000 by McLaren.
Back in 2012, this was published:
