"match racing" for last place !

yeah, thanks for the advice on this, felt I should have pursued it further, but I'll be back on Sunday and all being well will try again to beat him with a bit less naivety maybe. Should have realised what he was like as in our regatta the other day was arguing with the commitee about discards and...

"match racing" for last place !

He had a very nice hand made flag which lived on his kicker. Thanks Owyn for that,i thought I had a case, but after a twenty year lay off I'm a bit rusty,i'll see if I can have a word with him next week,it did seem to be a grumpy Sunday thougth,no protests all season, then threats abbounded all...

Is it worth replacing the plastic ring between mast sections?

Make sure the rivet that holds the sleeve on the top section is secure, otherwise the plastic 'bung' on the top section comes slightly apart and wedges itself in the bottom section, very embarrasing struggling to seperate the two pieces, need arms like Scwarzenegger!

"match racing" for last place !

Had the same thing happen to me yesterday, there was about 8 of our fleet out, myself and another guy were battling it out for fourth and fifth,he got ahead of me on the run down to the last mark, then I sneaked past him on the beat, despite him cover tacking me all the way up,by which time everyone...

    Making a custom wind vane

super cheap one is small piece of wire like on a garden fence, wrapped round the mast with a length of about 8 inch sticking horizontal from it,bend the tip up 90 degrees and attach a piece of ribbon or similar to it,ideal for light weather

    Mainsheet block

Sailing today, managed to rip the mainsheet block out of the hull!!!!! (it was very windy!) You know the one that the front of the hiking strap attaches to. Question is,how is it fitted, there's two stainless steel screws which hold it in,but do they screw into the GRP or is there a wooden block...

Need ideas on stainless steel plate for maststep.

Give the mast step a good sluice out after every sail, clean the mast base and you'll be fine,my old heap has a tatty mast step, with a few repairs around the rim but the actual hole is fine,I just clean it out and ensure the mast bottom is clean.

Class Politics cost of a laser

Surely it's all relative,my old laser built in 1979 cost me £400 about six months ago,I keep up with the new boys, will bolt on new kit as and when required and can guarantee to get my money back on her if and whn I sell her. It's the same the world over, supply and demand.

how fast does a laser go??

Mine managed about 65 knots the other day................. Mind you,was on the trailer getting towed to a meet!
