    Laser for rent in Florida?

Hi all, I am an experienced laser sailor here in Michigan, and am looking for a Laser to sail this late 2014 February or early March for one day. Anyone have one available with updated controls and standard sail? I will be in the Bradenton/Anna Maria island area. Thanks!

    Carbon Tiller Extention

I also have an older boat I'm fixing up. Regarding aluminum tillers, does it matter how heavy it is? Does a lighter tiller have better feel or reaction time? thanks

    Old Laser, Bad Bailer

How do you determine a stiff deck? I have the cockpit drain area repaired, auto bailer fitted and waiting for my brass thru hull fitting to arrive before drilling the hole and putting it all together. I have attached pics of my repair, and an inside pic of how I bonded the cockpit to the hull...

    Bonding Cockpit to hull

Thanks for the pics. That is how I am going to do it as well. Bond the corners and drain hole area, then install new brass fitting and possibly an extra brass washer to help take up any oversize of the existing hole.

The rest of the boat is fairly solid with some spider cracks around the bow, mast step, hiking strap plate area, etc.

    Expert bailer advice needed

I am in need of some advice on how to go about replacing the fitting in my bailer hole. The picture shows both sides of the hole right now which is 1 inch diameter. My question is... will the brass or original plastic through the hull fitting be secure/fit in the 1 inch hole? I do not have the...

    Bonding Cockpit to hull

Anyone out there tried squirting any kind of foam bonding adhesive down through an inspection port to bond the cockpit and the hull together to prevent movement between hull and footwell/cockpit? I would like to add just one port rather than two and try to get epoxy/resin/cloth down in there...

    Gudgeon placement

I don't think I want to be stacking washers or glueing them in place everytime I put on my rudder. My tiller seems to be at LEAST 1/4" too low. I am still waiting for a reply from someone with an actual measurement from their boat. Better yet, send a picture of your tiller in the rudder head. I...

    Gudgeon placement

Thanks, but what I need is the measurement. I have already replaced the gudgeons.

    Gudgeon placement

I am wondering if you all could tell me the correct gudgeon placement. What is the distance between the top of the top gudgeon and the bottom edge of your deck overhang? I am curious because I put on a new tiller and it drags on the top of the back edge of the deck so it rubs while steering...

    Lasers - Race vs Recreational?

Cskudder, I am also a recreational sailor ( for now) sailing in Michigan. Just bought a 1979 boat 2 weeks ago and have sailed it once before starting to fix it up during the fall/winter. regards Sample of 2.

    Old Laser, Bad Bailer

Oops, getting use to replying on this site. I took it out on it's maiden voyage today. 60 degrees air, 55 deg water. Light winds, but it soon became apparent that I will need either a ratcheting main block and/or gloves to handle the sheet. the boat was okay for 30 min or so then started to act...

    Old Laser, Bad Bailer

I purchased this 1979 Laser for $200 and am in the process of updating and repairing some stuff. The cockpit bailer hole is totally blocked from both sides with fiberglass resin and some cloth along the bottom of the eliptical well area. My question is... if I drill, grind, sand away all but the...
