    Jib Luff

Jib luff wire Thanks fan! I am in Colorado Springs and don't know of a nearby sail maker. Next time you sail if you notice that there is slack in your jib wire, I'd appreciate it. Thanks. Chris Baum

    Jib Luff

My jib ripped along the luff and in repairing it I discovered that the halyard line inside the sail seems to be too long. When I try to pull the ripped area together, the line buckles. The only solution would seem to be to undo the threads at the tack or the head or both and adjust the line so...

    1992 Mod 2 - Rub Rail Replacement/ Topping Lift

Rub Rail I just checked Catalina Direct. Theirs does not look like Capri rub rail. Just an FYI. I should mention that mine is an '81 Capri Omega which may invalidate everything I've said!

    1992 Mod 2 - Rub Rail Replacement/ Topping Lift

Rub rail I replaced my rub rail with stock provided by Catalina Yachts Woodland Hills. I called and they sent it. Mine was white and they sent me butterscotch color - it goes well with my hull color. I used a sheet metal screws on on corner by the transom. I removed all the old except in the...

    Centerboard rigging

Centerboard rig Thanks for the help. I understand everything except if you meant to say "burgee". Did you mean bungee? If you meant burgee, could you explain what that is? Thanks again. Chris Baum

    Centerboard rigging

I have a 1981 that I just put a new centerboard in. Before I drill holes, I am wondering if anyone has a rigging setup that they are particularly proud of. The rig I have uses a block attached to the mast step with a line going from the board forward to the block and then back to a jam cleat on...

Couple questions about 1982 Capri Omega

Stepping the mast I have a 1981 Capri Omega 14 and my mast also steps into the floor of the cockpit rather than on the deck (since there is no deck on the older boats). Mine has two athwartship pins through the bracket, which is screwed into the deck of the cockpit. I engage the aft pin first...

    Sealing hull and mast

Fixing gap between deck and hull. I think you are correct. In the flail, the sheet got cleated. We are probably going to put bolts in the deck along the edge to squeeze the hull and deck together. A good layer of caulk will be put in between before we tighten things up.

    Sealing hull and mast

accessing the crack between hull and deck The crack is readily visible from outside. Almost all of it is caulked. Mine is a 1981 and I was surprised too to see the construction. There is at least a 1/4" gap between the hull and the deck where they meet. This is caulked all the way around...

    Sealing hull and mast

I capsized yesterday and took on a lot of water. It took two hours to drain all the water out of the drain hole. There is a large opening (not in the fiberglass but in the seam between deck and hull) at the location of the starboard stay. There is no caulk there, whereas most of the rest of the...

Any members in the Colorado Springs area?

I just bought a Capri Omega 14, sail number 1772. I am wondering if there are any other Capri sailors in the CS Pueblo Denver Ft Collins area. Chris Baum
