Or you are sailing in San Francisco Bay. You really have to watch for some currents over there.
Anyway, electric (in any form) is much better option in my eyes. More cleaner lakes, and less repairs.
Why don't you try electric. If you need something light for racing you could use small inexpensive 30lbs thrust trolling motor. I want to have a little bit more power but I will go electric as well. My goal is to convert old 2 stroke to electric.
Thanks for the info. I will defiantly go electric. As far as trolling motors, I have seen them in action and they do not give me a good feeling of being able to master some swells and winds decently. 50lbs of thrust as a measurement is something that's hard to compare with HP or Watts. I think...
I was in dilemma should I buy electric or honda 2HP. Not a big fan of the internal combustion engines but not sure how electric motor would perform and what range would give me. So, I started doing research on trolling motors, but did not find anything that would satisfy me. So I made decision...
Centerboard & Rudder Fabrication
Here are some pics of the rudder and centerboard that I fabricated.

I like electric motor and currently I am in dilemma should I buy electric or honda 2HP. I have old capri omega and my bunk is small, but I could squeeze two 12V batteries in, I guess. Do not like to run all that cabling through the whole boat. I just want to be able to sail under power for a...
Hi,
no have not. Never came to it. I actually decided not to do it, as I have many repairs to perform on my trailer. I also had to re fabricated ruder and centerboard, so there is still a lot of work in front of me before I even start doing repaint.
Let me know how yours goes.
Thanks
Erni
My boat is older Capri Omega and it has been repainted ones already. I wanted to repaint it again, as old paint faded and started to chip on couple of places. However, I was wondering what paint should I use, and does it make sense to apply primer/base coat if boat has been already painted ones...
Hi Craig,
since you have a same boat as my, could you please take a look at my post about mast hosting, just to check if I have all parts necessary for hosting?
Here is my post:

Thank you in advance

Hi Craig,
I just bought Capri Omega built in 1978. It is a nice boat. However, my rudder was split in half and previous owner repaired it, and my centerboard is all bent and does not maintain a straight line when you look at it. On top of that, previous owner painted it and now all wood is...
Thanks Jim. That is what I thought. It is very hard to find any info on Capri Omega. I really like this boat and I am looking forward to some fun sailing.
I hope some other Omega owners will drop by to verify what you already said.
Thanks
Erni
Hi Guys,
I just bought Capri Omega built in 1978. Great boat, and I really love it. However, before I hit a lake, I need to do some cleanup and repairs.
However, I am confused with the process how to host a mast. I attached pics of my foot of the mast and a plate that is screwed on the flor of...
