Class Politics fairing rudder and daggerboard

I believe all the inconsistency issues with the old foils have been resolved with the new ones. I recently bought a set of the new GRP ones. They are far nicer than the old epoxy versions and can be used right out of the box.

Not always LaLi. At the 2014 Master's Worlds in Hyeres, a number of brand new blades would not pass through the template.

There is also a blade thickness template so make sure that if you are refinishing your blades, that they are not too thick. 33mm max for centreboard and 20mm max for rudder. http://www.laserinternational.org/sites/default/files/Attachments/Appendix%206.pdf

    Stupid wetsuit question

It's not a stupid question Geoffbp58, but the answers given above are not quite on the money. Probably their experience has been with ill-fitting wetsuits. Ask any surfer and they will tell you that the wetsuit needs to hug you firmly to work. They work by admitting a very small amount of water...

    Water Bottle Attachment

Beaker, rules are rules. Just become richer so that you can afford a coach boat to carry your drinks. That levels the playing field a bit.

    Laser upwind Boatspeed?

Light wind, pull sheet in until block touching (block to block) and then just snug the vang to take up the slack. That will give you some sail shape to work with and you can sheet in and out from there with the puffs. Don't point too high until you have boat speed, then come up slowly but go...

    Water Bottle Attachment

The following are also legal, but not often seen: Water bottle bracket screwed into cockpit corner or corners Shock cord retaining water bottle led back to one or both traveller fairleads Shock cord retaining water bottle led up centre of hiking strap padding Drink bottles anywhere on board and...

Class Politics New design Standard Sail

I heard rumours from a reputable source in the USA that there was an out of court settlement, hence ILCA are moving on the outstanding Mk2 sail and the composite topmast will follow shortly.

    Nautos parts

It certainly is confusing. While there are no restrictions on the cleats or the fairleads attached to the cleat base, I very much doubt that that the cleat base supplied by Intensity is legal as it has no branding on it. AlanD...?

    Nautos parts

And just to confuse the issue further, PSA are selling legal Nautos parts. So perhaps the statement by Nautos on their website is out of date because it appears to me that Nautos are indeed an official supplier? http://www.psasailing.com.au/shop/spars/gooseneck/

    Nautos parts

It's quite confusing. So you can have Nautos cleats on a laser cleat base? What about the fairleads? Is this advertisement misleading? http://www.intensitysails.com/nadocamclwfo.html

    Nautos parts

I've seen some Nautos parts popping up on Laser web stores saying they are class legal as they are builder supplied. Is this correct? An example is the Cunningham/Outhaul deck cleat.

    Doubling Racks

Mark out the deck profile at the mast step and just behind the traveler cleat. Take it to a foam rubber stockist and get them to cut you two 4" wide foam blocks. Ideal would be foam blocks similar to what they make the mast carriers from. Cut a piece of an old mast and use this to lock the two...

    Redoing my Laser

Young Sailor, don't listen to people who say "don't do it". The world doesn't advance and people don't learn a thing by doing nothing and sitting on their hands wailing Nooooooo. You'll learn a lot from the experience and you'll have a boat you fixed up yourself. Good luck and don't forget to...

    Soft bottom

I have acquired an old 1981 Laser that is mostly in reasonable condition, to use for twilight racing at a different club to the one I usually race at. Unfortunately, it has been stored on a road trailer with rather short rear bunks and the two areas that have taken the load either side of the...

    Intensity Sails/Non-Laser Class Certified Sails

Yes, we all understand that to race in sanctioned events, you have to use class legal parts. But if we step back to the supply of those class legal parts, we find that they supplied by a business, which business is registered in Australia. That business has to comply with the laws of the country...
