    Class Politics Shackle?

But now we come full circle. If there is no performace advantage, why not allow it? Granted there can be a slight advatage in weight savings, (certainly less then, say a sandwich? :) ) But I'm just looing to lose all the knots. Eye splices look so much sexier then a bowline. And to speed up...

    Class Politics Shackle?

my inquirey was just from a courousity point. I, personally, loathe kevlar, but kind dumb to outlaw it and the only banned line. but makes NO diffenece to me. kevlar is better used in the hull (also banned) Problem here. The cover does *zero* to add to the strength of the line. The core is...

    Question on the "New" Rigging

Ok, he's talking about single braid vs double. (ie: cored) The reason for not using the spectra as a control line is that because its so strong (with little creep) its gets seriously downsized. hurts the hands when pulling hard. Use it only in the primary side of a cascaded system. Spectra...

    Class Politics  Shackle?

Would using a shackle on one of the cunningham primary lines/blocks be a rules violation? I'm using splices for all ends and the block doesn't fit through the cringle. (but the thimble will) I hate knots; they kill line strength and look fugly! (I don't have a single load bearing knot on my 505)...

For me it was 505 weight. but same thing and advice. BEER !! (and the good stuff, not that cheap American dribble) And vegitating What the ideal weight for a Laser? I thought I heard somewhere about 180lbs. I'll be sailing in 10-20. Plan on getting a 4.7 rig for when its...

    Repair help please

Above or below the waterline? Just gelcoat damage? What about gelcoat? WEST is fine (and a better resin the boat was made with) But its not UV resistant. WEST with some microbaloons, then a little Easypoxy on top might be the trick. I had refinshed my spare 505 CB last year using...

NA's in Wrightsville Beach. Who's Going?

Newbie to the class (well almost a newbie, ordered a new boat) Are the NA's an open event? The world's are an qualifier event, yes?

mainsheet cleats - do you use them?

Well how do you guys drink the beer? :D Rigging rules kinda blow. They dictate the size/weight, narrowly, of a competitor. I'm used to a wide open rigging (in the 505), where you can make the boat fit the person not the other way around. But it is, what it is. And the new rules are a...

    Carbon Extension cutoff

Just becarefull not to delaminate it. I would cut the handle end over the tiller end. Use the finest toothed blade you can find. A 'wiz=wheel' would be best.
