Got my hands on a nice used one today. Not enough time to take some pics.
I'm planning a size upgrade on the 8" wheels to 12" to help reduce vibration chatter, which loosened some bolts to the point that a bunk almost dropped off. Close call!
Alan, I appreciate your assistance with my planned...
Hey all,
After recently watching the movie "All is Lost" with Robert Redford, I thought I'd start a fun thread for us to share our favorites. An older favorite of mine is Dead Calm with Sam Neil, Nicole Kidman, & Billy Zane.
Hey there y'all!
It's been a while. I hope everyone and families been doing relatively well thru these wacky times.
I made the mistake of selling my 2001 fish before coming to my senses and realizing it was the best boat for my situation. YOWLLLL!!!!
Anyway, good to be back on the forum, and...
With room for only one boat, there's a not-so-new Cat in town. My intention is to move on to a slightly larger gaff-rigged keelboat, so the BC will help me along.
Kent, following my heart, I decided to go this route, rather than the Drascombe Lugger.
I wonder if you guys would mind me posting...
I recently climbed into the cockpit (boat on trailer) to glue strips of material in the daggerboard trunk to prevent hum/chatter. While doing so I heard a soft snap and looked down to see two fine cracks (they look like two 18 inch or so lengths of black hair) running lengthwise in the cockpit...
It takes me a while to tie up the bundle so I have peace of mind when I get going, using both the mainsheet and halyard. I'm looking for alternatives. Anybody use ball bungees like this, or pieces of velcro, or whatever? Anything to get out of the sweltering heat asap.
Low intermediate sailor. Yesterday was my first time out in small whitecap chop, big grin on my face, even on the circus acts that are my jibes.
It seemed like the daggerboard would chatter when I picked up some speed; please let me know if it's anything to worry about, or if popping it out a...
Hi all,
I’m looking for some tips on how to sail safely, especially when it’s only me out there. I’ve only been sailing since last year and my home waters is the Shrewsbury river in New Jersey which, along with the Navesink river, feeds out into the bay.
Basically what I’ve been doing is going...
Hi all, it's been a while but I'd like to share some pics of new bunks I built for the SF. At bottom.
For cushioning, I used 2 layers of a dense flooring material used in gyms, etc.. It seems pretty good, plus it was free! Also, rather than buy a sheet of plywood for just a couple of 6" strips...
Hi all, best new year wishes to everybody!!!
Please let me know if this trailer will work, or if it's too short....picture attached.
I measured 8' from the winch crank to the axle (can be increased slightly by sliding the attachment forward), and 10'6" from forward tip (where it would attach...
Hi all, I was on the verge of dropping the hammer on a Kitty Hawk trailer purchase when the following made me pause...
As the pics show, there's damage to the bow, resulting in a fix using a lot of fill-in in the underlip part of the gunwale. This doesn't leave much gunwale for the bow portion...
Hi all, any tips on removing a philips screw whose head is stripped out? I looked at a few youtube vids, but decided to post here as well as I'm trying to minimize risk to the fiberglass (such as drilling holes in it by accident).
Thanks
