Media Photos: YOU & YOUR Sunfish, in water, under sail

A selection: http://www.orangebug.co.uk/SunfishSailing/ Photos taken by my (then) six year old son - blame him for the dodgy camera work! I've only been out once this year so far. Will have to brave the cold again this week though. Itching to get back on the water.

    sunfish sailing in Great Britain

It did - wow! I can't believe you only paid £50 for it. I'd have paid twice that just for the new rudder!! The hull looks a little worse for wear (is that a repair in the deck?) but I think you may have the bargain of the decade there. If you'd like to double your money just let me know :)...

    sunfish sailing in Great Britain

John, I've only ever sailed inland on (very) small lakes. Hoping to expand this next year to either a larger lake like Rutland Water or Llangorse or in the sea at Salcombe/Hope Cove. I've also got the River Avon on my doorstep, but the thought of tacking every 10 seconds is not too appealing...

    sunfish sailing in Great Britain

Hi John, Glad to meet a fellow UK based Sunfish owner. I've needed some spare parts for mine and found that you can get most shipped over an reasonable cost. Obviously spars, rudders and daggerboards are the problem in terms of shipping because of their size. I'd certainly welcome official...

UK Sunfish owner in gusty winds - some photos

The boat says Bahrain Yacht Club on the back. Apparently someone brought it over to the UK from there. I bought it off ebay for just over 100 UKP (around $150 at the time). I've had to buy some rigging for it, and I've done a few repairs, but I still think I got a good deal. My main problem...

UK Sunfish owner in gusty winds - some photos

Re: UK Sunfish owner in gusty winds - uprighting capsized boat Of course you are correct - it is obvious now; that is exactly what was happening. That would also explain why it popped up so quickly after the 2nd capsize - the boat was the other way around, so I had the help from the wind...

UK Sunfish owner in gusty winds - some photos

Hi all, It was fairly gusty today and I decided it might be a good afternoon to try the boat out in something other than the light winds I've experienced so far. Two hours and three capsizes later (my first ever capsizes!) I had a big smile on my face and a few bruises on my arm. The final...

Ideas for where a leak may be

Thanks for all the advice from everyone. I'm thinking that the mast step is the most likely spot as the fiberglass looks quite worn and the boat isn't covered. Given that there was some water in the hull, it could also be water draining from one of the foam blocks. The amount of water is...

Ideas for where a leak may be

Hi, First of all, hello from the UK! I'm not sure but I may be the only forum member from this side of the Atlantic. I bought a Sunfish late last year and have finally got around to working on her. I fitted an inspection port and found around 1/2 inch of water in the bottom. I used a...
