what is the Composite White Daggerboard made of?

You're welcome! Thanks for the correction, I was kind of hoping there was more than one rod going down that thing. :D BC

what is the Composite White Daggerboard made of?

Good question...Just purchased an 09 boat this summer, came with one of those POS "composite" daggerboards. From my understanding it is a high density foam core with a metal rod going down the leading edge of the board. Marine paint on the outside, no fiberglass involved to my knowledge. I am...

    Dumb daggerboard question

A point to consider...possibly...just thinking out loud here.....if by putting the daggerboard in backwards, I wonder if you end up moving the center of pressure/effort, that is acting on the daggerboard to provide lateral resistance going upwind, further aft a few inches, causing the arm...

    Dumb daggerboard question

Wanted to correct my statement. The larger the vorticies, the more lift that is being produced, thus more induced drag...drr.

Running the mainsheet from the back?

Talked to the manufacture today. In their perspective, running a 2:1 purchase with a harken 57mm ratchet/cam/swivel with becket on the bridal and the rear traveler block on the boom, shouldn't be an issue. They said, it could possibly be harder to sheet in, but load wise they said it should be...

Running the mainsheet from the back?

Bought a harken swivel/cam/57mm ratcheting block with a becket, should work out just fine, i hope...we will see! Going to talk to laserperformance before actually sailing with the setup though.

Running the mainsheet from the back?

Ivy...blame it on my somewhat intermediate level of sailing knowledge. Curious, is this assuming there is a boom vang around the gooseneck? Would that help with the sail/boom shape in this situation? BC

Running the mainsheet from the back?

lol, no kidding, i'll loose money on selling it right now though, too late in the season and the fish aren't biting, so to speak. Being in college, the funds are somewhat limited...so any ideas to this problem? BC

Running the mainsheet from the back?

Why don't you think so? Are you thinking along the lines of mechanical advantage? Even if it is led from the back eye strap on the boom?

Running the mainsheet from the back?

Mainsheet hangers bring up another good point, but more of what i'm getting at, is the fact that, often in order to have more room, and not shoulder to shoulder, my passengers sit forward of the cockpit on a corner, near the mainsheet block. This allows them more freedom of movement and allows...

Running the mainsheet from the back?

Anyone know if this would be a good idea on the sunfish? Or is this too much load for the bridal line and the eye strap and block in the back? http://www.hobiecat.com/sailing/gallery.php?model=bravo&img_num=34&res=hr

Running the mainsheet from the back?

Has anyone ever run the mainsheet from the back of the boat, so it isn't run across the cockpit and in the way of passengers. The problem i've been having is when im sailing it from the back of the cockpit, and im just taking someone for a ride, the mainsheet always gets in the way on a tack. In...

Cartopping Idea for the lone sailor

Well, I tried carttopping it solo with the hull up towards the sky, deck down...very difficult if you plan to roll it up the roof, which is the only way. Not only are there too many obstructions on the deck, but the rollers are not high enough to clear the roof rack of the obstructions. So I...

Cartopping Idea for the lone sailor

Well, i'd love to say that it is possible to carttop a sunfish upside down by yourself, but it would be pretty difficult. I would imagine you would need to place the rollers far apart to support the edges as you roll it up, and get an extra set perhaps for the trunk hood. And you have to be...

Cartopping Idea for the lone sailor

Never have, looked into buying it though. I asked about the max speed on it, the tires are only rated to 55...which is ok for most highways on the coasts....but not for the midwest. There is an article about this trailer being great, but you need to adjust the bunks in order to provide the best...
