Great places to sail a sunfish

We were staying at the east end of Perdido Key (just west of Pensacola). I launched at the ramp in Big Lagoon State Park. Big Lagoon is a fun place to mess around. I love sailing in new places. I can highly recommend this one.

    Question about leak test

I've done 2 now. I read the instructions, here and on Yahoo (more carefully the 2nd time :o). The 1st time, I used a small electric leaf blower  and got bubbles at the bailer and around the top of the daggerboard trunk. I realize my method may have caused one or both of these leaks. I...

    Bottom rattling against cockpit floor

Recently, I've noticed that I can hear & feel the bottom of the boat knocking against the cockpit floor. I don't remember it doing this before . Any advice on how to fix it? I'm thinking foam blocks glued in between with epoxy. I have a port between the coaming and the daggerboard...

    Got a Leaker

I confirmed in the last few days that my boat is quite a leaker - about 1.5" in 30 minutes. :( I did a leak test today (not as hard as I thought) and discovered the leaks are all around the top of the daggerboard trunk and around the bailer. For the bailer, I figured to just remove it and...

    Tinting white gelcoat

My boat is an '82 AMF Alcort. The hull & deck are off-white. I kinda forgot that when I got white gelcoat to finish off the patches. What color (yellow or brown, I guess) colorant did you use to match the off-white?

    hull weight question

In the pdf about drying out the boat, there is a reference to a table showing hull weight for different manufacturers. The specifications just say 130#. My boat is an '82 Alcort. How do I figure out what the dry weight should be?

    trailer wheels

I've had my sunfish for 20+ years, but between having a pickup and living on the water, I never needed a trailer until recently. I bought one at Academy that was designed for a flatboat and altered it to fit my boat. I ended up with 8" wheels because the trailer with 12" wheels was just huge...

Just found you: Getting a boat ready to sail

Hi, I just found this forum while looking up the hull weight on wikipedia. I have a sunfish I bought in the early 80s and used a lot while I was childless. It has been laying in my yard for years and I am getting it back in shape for teaching my 8-year-old daughter to sail. I got a trailer...
