1) when its windy and your struggling to keep it flat. play the sheet to keep the boat flat as appose to killing yourself hiking 150%
2)on flat water use allot of downhaul (Ben Ainslies sydney olympic coach told me this)

if my memory serves me right, there was laser 2 called the "laser 2 FUN" or siomething like that, it had weird colured sails and i beleive an asymetric
BUT i might be wrong it has been known to happen in the past:p

over here in the uk and i think the rest of europe you can only purchase hyde sails,
the peeps @ my club wouldn't be bothered and they aint if we use practice sails its only if we hold an open where they require us to have a class legal sail,
