I don't know about a shakle, but the system that works for me and i have seen on many other boats is a loop of line tied to the botttom gromet that the retrieval line is fed through
I don't think there is a question about which boat is more fun, ask anyone who has sailed both and they will tell you its a laser 2 hands down. Its a faster boat in any kind of breeze and alot less things to hit/get caught on in the cockpit. The problem is that the 420 is a much more durable...
I have a few scratches in my boat and I was planning on wetsanding the hull and then finishing with teflon polish. The boat is a 2000, but it was only sailed for one summer before I bought it. It has been suggested that leaving the hull would be faster, but I don't see why.

Always sail with both sails, thats the way the boat is designed and you will get nowhere sailing with just the main. A trick is to run the jib sheet through the clew without a knot, and then cleat both ends. This forms a self tacking jib of sorts.

The boat i'm looking at is a 2000, it was used that summer then put in storage, everything looks in good working order, sails still crisp...what kind of price do you think is fair for it?
