    hull repair

Wow! Great pics. I never knew about climbing there. I may have to visit, but will have to have some young rockstar haul my old butt up a few routes.

    hull repair

No, I didn't meet them. I've not seen the climbing in AZ, but would love to check it out. Thanks for the invite! I know what you mean about providing info/advice to others and saving their lives. I've done the same and helped with a couple of rescues in the Gunks. One of my long-time buddies now...

    Refurbished junked trailer

Well, I passed the inspection and received the VIN so I can now register the trailer. Seems dumb that they'd be okay with weak carabiner clips rather than the chain hooks. I removed the carabiner clips and will only use the open chain hooks. I'm quite sure it's safer.

    Refurbished junked trailer

The saga continues! Since the trailer doesn't have the manufacturer's plate with a VIN for DMV to register it, here in CT, I had to make an appointment three weeks into the future to get a temp registration/license plate so I can drive it to the only DMV location in CT that does inspections to...

    hull repair

Yes, I used to climb there all the time, then in Yosemite after college: El Cap, Lost Arrow Spire, Snake Dike on Half Dome, Royal Arches and some in Tuolumne Meadows. The Gunks carriage road is right at the base, but you can't drive on it. You have to walk in. The guide book is very good and the...

    hull repair

Thanks all. I returned the 3M silicone based material and purchased Marine Tex. It makes more sense since it can be shaped and sanded. I haven't yet applied it but will let you know how it turns out.

    Trailer bunks?

May be a little late to respond.... I just refurbished an old trailer for my Sunfish. I used 3/4 plywood x 4" x 4' for flexibility and put on several coats of poly. I purchased marine bunk board carpet and a backpacking/camping 1/2" closed cell sleeping pad. The top of the boards have the foam...

I have the Super rig with a 2-piece mast. I'm not aware of a 1-piece.

    Super Sunfish Traveler Bar parts

I have a 1978 Super Sunfish (set up like a Laser) and am looking for the rubber suction cup ends for the cockpit traveler bar. I don't think parts are still made for the Super, but maybe someone knows where I can find them? Or maybe someone knows who the manufacturer is of those parts.... Please...

    Refurbished junked trailer

Thanks for your comment. After completion, I decided that for the cost, it's more worth buying a new trailer than it is to refurbish an old one. But since I had the time (laid off earlier this summer) it only made sense to rescue the junked trailer from the landfill. All the new parts, wiring...

    hull repair

Thanks for the info. Right now the boat is on the refurbished trailer and I'll need someone to help me flip it so I can get pics. There are two or there small holes in the keel about about 3/16" deep and the diameter of a pencil eraser. Also there is an abrasion on both chines where it was...

    Refurbished junked trailer

Attached is the pic of the trailer as I obtained it. 1970s shag carpet on the bunk boards were growing seedlings.

    Refurbished junked trailer

Thanks. The hull is the same as the Sunfish with some hardware modifications. The Super has a rig like a Laser (Marconi). There are only two spars: mast (2 pieces, 16' 2") is taller and the boom (7' 10") is shorter than the Sunfish. Sail is 65 ft2 (Sunfish is 75 ft2). The dagger board is shaped...

This is great!! Where would I find the uprights, cross bars and connection hardware?

    hull repair

My Sunfish hull has a few spots that need repair. It looks like they are small holes/abrasions that go into the fiberglass mat. What is the best way to fix them? Can I just smear on some FG resin and then sand it?

    Towing Question- Need Advice

I suggest that you car top it and drive it yourself. When you get back to CO, take your time in finding the right trailer. It'll cost a lot less than shipping the boat and you can visit family and sights along the way. Without a trailer, parking and driving will be easier and there won't be any...

    Super Sunfish parts

Hi All: I just joined the forum. I hope you can help me to find parts for my Super Sunfish. Specifically I'm looking for the rubber "suction cup" ends of the cockpit traveler bar. Any ideas where I can get them?
