If you have the new gudgeon, once you place it on the transom as high as possible, you’ll realize it’s actually pretty simple to visualize the position. The recess for the old style rudder gives you a nice reference to keep it centered.
Made it out to the lake yesterday, so apparently the Indian princess isn’t the only mystical creature on the lake.
From across the lake I wasn’t sure what I was seeing, so I had to take a closer look.
Yup a unicorn!!!
They were fishing off that thing lol.
No PFD, fishing off an inflatable pool...
Well I unintentionally discovered a down side to the hook. If you loose hold of the main sheet, not having a fairlead or block on the deck the sail can blow away from you and take the sheet with it. Don’t forget your stopper knot. I also noticed the hook definitely wears on the line much more.
I acquired an old hull, no storage compartment yesterday morning. After yard work I decided to test her sea worthiness. It only had the hook and I enjoyed sailing her that way. In the 8-10 mph winds Yesterday I didn’t see why I’d need anything more.
As for a hiking strap I haven’t sailed with...
After a recent exchange with a well known member I came to realize this forum doesn’t have a thread like this.( or at least I couldn’t find it)

I got a boat a few years back, the foam is loose and I just sail her the way she is.
She may not be pretty but I’ve learned that having an ugly boat, I don’t mind dragging her across the beach, ding or dents while loading unloading don’t bother me one bit.
I do have another project boat that I’m...

My son went to SUNY Albany.
He referred to the city as dirty Albs...
Little Long Island trivia, eastern long islanders refer to central and western Long Island as “up island”.
Just spit balling on the 2 floor boards, but it appears the cockpit is a bit longer then I’ve seen in other wooden fish(zip).
My guess is it was modified or built that way, notice the center bracing in the cockpit? That seems to be where rear bulkhead of the cockpit would’ve been.
Double Clove hitch works for me. I did acquire a boat that had electrical tape on the upper spar where the halyard would be tied. I assumed it was a marker, but maybe it was for added friction. I’ve since removed the tape with no dire consequences.
Your results may vary.
No different “lady”
This is an Indian princess that haughts these waters for the last 400 years or so taking a male victim each year to replace her lost love The haunted tale that keeps Long Island locals out of this lake
Weather here on Long Island has got me getting ready to drop the boat in the water. The wife mentioned the parks are closed.
I guessing I can drop in lake Ronkonkoma at the dec boat ramp. I don’t recall there being a gate there. If so I’ll drag it down to the shore at one of the many roadside...
