I am going over to the dark side - selling out laser stuff to buy a racing kiteboard and kite.
This boat & equipment are located in Fort Walton Beach FL area. I am willing to travel a bit depending on what you want to buy - Big discount for buying it all.
Individual prices are all "plus...
I purchased an 86 that was in very very good condition - with a trailer but without the upgrades, for $1200. I think that might be a little high for a 77, but I guess it depends on where you are and what the market is.
I thought I remembered a thread from a couple years ago describing how to replace the gooseneck riviets with bolts. My rivets have loosened up & I suspect the holes in the lower mast section may have some corrosion so thought bolting would be best.
Just in case I decide to re-rivet, what is...
Somebody said it above, but I'll reiterate it because it is THE most important thing -- you have to keep the boat flat & the only real way I know to do this is to keep your head out of the boat, so you see the puffs coming and ease the sheet before they hit.
Once the puff hits its too late to...
Again I'll lobby for somehow getting this type of info up on this site or the laser-na site. There is so much good info avail if you just do a search and aggregate the best pieces. Problem is its just too overwhelming for the new sailors.
It should be pretty straightforward to put together...
Make sure battens are in sail
Make sure mast is tied down to deckplate
Make sure drain plug is in
Make sure the tiller is under the traveller line
Make sure clew strap is on
Make sure the bungee keeper is over the vang key
Make sure the stopper knot in the mainsheet is at the right point for the...
This is the kind of stuff that we should have on our Wiki.
Someone recently posted this link to DrLaser stuff on a web archive. Lots of good stuff here. Looked at some of the pages and did not see any copyright statement that would prevent you copying it.
I think as long as you properly...
Re: Need transport for dolly from Annapolis to Columbus, OH
Might try to find someone on a J24 forum - the nationals are in Annapolis this week and I would think there is someone from your area there
So actually I am curious.
IF you have a garage that you are storing your mast/sail in;
IF you have help rolling it so you get it rolled evenly;
What is the harm in keeping the sail on the mast?
In salt water I can see a downside being that you can't very easily rinse out the lower section and...
ha !! If you search on this topic you will find some food-fights.
But I think everyone will say the sail should be dry before putting it away.
Me - I am pretty cavalier with my sails, but I don't finish very well so don't listen to me. Read the threads and enjoy the fun :)
No worries - I've been swamped myself!
Of course if its just you & I who think this might be a good idea then its not going to be much good is it? Hopefully someone will come along that can help get it hosted
I think both the Florida Masters and the Midweek Madness have always been at the same place. The Masters Midwinters East seems to move from year to year. If I am wrong then hopefully when someone gets this schedule posted we can fix it.
ok so here is a word doc with the beginnings of a "fixed schedule" and some example events in each of the various sections.
The dates for some of the really big national and regional events probably move a bit, but there is room to nail them down as many years in advance as the info is...
Actually NOT !! If you want an autopilot for an airplane, bomb, satellite, rocket or robot -- that I can do. Web pages, beyond posting some semi-literate drivel ... forget it!
Besides my ADD issues (as someone else so afflicted aptly put it) "cause me to curl up in a corner shaking...
