    Mast replacement

Thanks, Even if you can't find it for free on the beach here, bamboo is super cheap. I purchased a slightly smaller piece to use as a walking stick for about 2 or 3 dollars. I will have to pick up a suitably sized bamboo tube and give it a try. Any suggestions on good knots to use for a...

    Mast replacement

Hi sorry to revive an old thread but I'm really curious whatever happened with the bamboo mast and how long it lasted? I moved to Ecuador a couple of years ago and picked up a sunfish clone hull with no mast. But there is tons of bamboo available. Thanks Matt

    Racing upgrades

Thanks for all the tips. I am a big enough guy that the hiking strap wouldn't make much of a difference in my ability to heel the boat upwind or downwind. We are also on a smaller lake, surrounded by trees, with usually light and variable winds, so I think my ability to follow lifts and headers...

    Racing upgrades

Thanks, I already have an older racing sail and a racing dagger board. My club requires that i follow class association rules. I thought most clubs did? I will have to look into the outhaul and cunningham. The modern rudders are post 72, right? Matt

How hot do the yellow decks get?

In Kansas in the summer, dark colored things get to hot to sit on pretty quickly, so it definately depends on your location. Thanks again, Matt

How hot do the yellow decks get?

I am considering purchasing a 1977 sunfish with a yellow deck and red hull. I have heard that darker colors get pretty hot in the sun, but I am curious about the yellow. All my previous sunfish have had white decks. Thanks, Matt

Someone removed the foam blocks from my sunfish hull?

When I bought this boat I noticed that the access ports were stuffed with noodles and expandable foam, but i didn't realize why. Now when I remove the noodles to cut down on weight i find that in the back at least the foam blocks are missing. Does anyone know how important the blocks are to...
