MASSACHUSETTS Sailfish for sale - Western Mass.

Purchased by my friend’s father in 1959, and in dry storage his whole life. This wooden Sailfish was refinished in 2021. Sadly, only on the water once. Has been covered since. Life changes! All parts- rudder, dagger board, tiller. Sail in great shape. Wooden mast is 114”. Comes with Trailex...

    Attaching the sail to spars

How did you do? Similarly, I'm attaching the sail to wooden spars for my Sailfish. I watch the video Signal Charlie posted and I get using the marlin hitch for most ofit. Still feel sketchy about attaching the clew and head.

    Guide to renovation- Sailfish

Let's see. No changes to the mast/spars yet. Perhaps next season. Want to get it on the water before the snow flies. The topside is McClosky's spar varnish. Interlux Brightside for the green, which we're thinking (hoping) will be alright since it'll mostly be on land. I did some research and...

    Guide to renovation- Sailfish

Big steps of late! Kuddos to my significant other, a woodworker, I admit! Still getting hitch/trailer so sadly it’s not in the water yet, but close. New sheets en route, too.

    Sailfish rigging

Refinishing/repairs nearly done on Sailfish (circa?..) Question about rigging…. I see a lot about Sunfish, including Signal Charlie’s book (thank you). Do Sailfish not have a main sheet swivel/ratchet block or cleat? This has only the cleat on the mast step. Am hesitant to add without clearly...

Well, I give up up on freeing the brass drain plug

Need one (or two) here also. Our wooden Sailfish has 2 bronze drains but the threads of both are frozen. Will anything solve that?

    Guide to renovation- Sailfish

Haven't gotten going yet, sadly, and with all this wind, it's been torture! A basic question here- what's the preferred method for paint removal on the wooden hull? I've sanding brightwork in the past, but never this kind of finish.

    Guide to renovation- Sailfish

Here are a few pics at present. The mast measures 9’5” and I gather it should be 10 ft. Thoughts about repair vs. making a new one? Finding one seems less likely.

    Guide to renovation- Sailfish

Hello all. I’m new to the forum. I was gifted a wooden Super Sailfish (50’s ish) that appears to be in pretty good shape overall. Everything definitely needs sanding/refinishing. The wooden mast also needs replacing. It appears to have broken at some point and is several feet shorter than...
