I took the boat out of the water last week to give the bottom a cleaning and reapply some VC-17.
First note. The VC-17 performed well for me in salt water in Nova Scotia. I had a couple spots of barnicles, but in both cases the VC-17 failed there and the gel coat was exposed. So I plan to...
Yes, please email. For those asking about shipping to the US. The cheapest price I can find for a sail rolled is $250 with Day and Ross freight. I haven't checked Canada Wide. I can fold the sail, but really don't want to, but it's ultimately up to the buyer. If a buyer has a better shipping...
Give me a couple days and I'll check. I also have two like new North Sail Mains. I'd be willing to part with as well. You can email me at tps 8903 at Gmail and we can discuss

I bought a borescope to check out that limber hole in the back of the bilge. Turns out it's sealed off and only about 1" deep. The leak is definitely coming from within that hole.
I'm considering trying an epoxy putty to stop the slow leak until the fall when I can investigate out of the...
Thanks Vince,
I would like to replace my cabin sole in a similar fashion with a wood floor supported by the lateral wood/fiberglass stiffeners. Is there as rule I would break in doing so? I might as well while I diagnose and fix this issue.
No problem,
I got a pretty good deal on my boat. With the exception of the leak I'm investigating that you replied too (that I'm not even sure is a problem yet) the boat is amazing!!!
I figured a 40 year old boat might need a little TLC. I'm up to the challenge.
Hi Vince,
You are correct, in that it is the bilge and the bow is towards the front of the picture. The hole in the rear seems to be a limber? hole for draining from somewhere.
I think I might Infact stick a wire up there to see if I can ascertain where it leads. I'm fairly certain the water...
Hi VinceH,
I read your response. Thank you for that. I plan on doing exactly what you recommended. If I'm ever in a situation where I make a national event etc. I'll make the change at that time.
I plan on collecting the parts through the classifieds piece by piece as they seem cheaper that way.
I put my new to me J24 in the water on Wednesday. It's Friday afternoon. The bilge was about half full. It did rain pretty hard, so at first I wasn't to concerned. But then I tasted the water and it was brackish. So I suspected there was a leak from below mixed with some rain water.
There is a...
Hello,
I have the older style pintle attachment for my rudder. The attachment are in fantastic condition as is the rest of the boat. I've been sourcing the parts to do the rudder strap/gudgeon/pin update. Reading the class rules it says that 2 upper and lower gudgeons are required? Does this...
The straps are $320 online. Are you including other hardware in that price like the pins etc? Just so I understand? I have the old pintles on my J24 and I want to change the rudder attachment to the double shear pin style.
Pretty old and well used. 2 small holes that have been taped that I can see.
I've never used it, came with a bunch of sail as a larger purchase.
No reasonable offer refused. Make an offer.
