    Fixing the bridle strap complete

I didn't do the other side since it seems to be in pretty secure. At some point in time, I can get in and replace it as well as switch the rudder to the newer style potentially. It isn't on my plan yet.

    Fixing the bridle strap complete

As you know the strap loop for the bridle broke the first time out on the water. My son and I managed to fix it. It appears that it was only drilled into the deck, no wood behind the screws.... Here are the step we did to fix it. Let me know if it is too long of a post. I ended up using...

    First time on the water

No luck on having the wood backer block. So I guess I will be putting in the inspection port right in front of the rudder attachment and working my way to the hole. What kind and size wood should I use?

Thanks, I will try to find it. I have my doubts I can find it. I'll give the knot a try, actually my son will. Swivel cleat is in now. BTW, I bought your book and my son and I enjoyed the pictures and commentary.

    First time on the water

That is my plan. I will put the port in the center aft just forward of the rudder attachment bracket so I can swap the rudder in the future. Although this rudder seemed to work well in his opinion. He has sailed a bunch of Sunfish with his ship but mostly ones from the 80's. This boat is a...

    First time on the water

My son is a Sea Scout, so he really knows his knots. His skipper did the rolling hitch the first time and it gave way under sail, and his later on did as well. It might be because the line was wet when he tied his up.

    First time on the water

OK with pictures. I have a backup camera, it doesn't work well when backing the boat from the angle it is at. I also added a picture of the original location for the drain plug that the previous owner moved. I am hoping it is just covered and I can uncover it and put a new plug in it. It...

    First time on the water

My son took his Sunfish out on the water yesterday. My son had a great time. There is a link here of a save he had: . And of course there was damage on the first day..... The metal loop for the traveler ripped out of the deck of the boat. So I will have to put in an access port that I...

    New to me Sunfish

Her name is Prädəjē good point about the maststep, thanks. The current sail has seen its day. I am guessing it is original from 1970. They were little holes I could see through on it. My son is a Sea Scout and wants to race against his buddies in our Ship's other Sunfish. He likes to the...

    New to me Sunfish

I meant the little PVC piece that look like a field goal cross bar that fits into the mast step and keeps the spars off of the splash guard.
